     David Sutliff was born on 16 July 1760 at Durham, Middlesex County, CT, USA. Date and location in Pension file. He was the son of Samuel Sutliff and Eunice Curtiss. David Sutliff was a Private, andserved in Capt Butler, Col Arnold's Regt of the CT Line, during the Revolutionary War. He never offered sufficient proof to qualify for a pension. He died in May 1843 at Vernon, Clinton County, OH, USA, at age 82. He was buried at Hester Cemetery, at Norwalk, Huron County, OH, USA.

Samuel Sutliff

     Samuel Sutliff was born on 9 April 1765 at Durham, Middlesex County, CT, USA. He was the son of Samuel Sutliff and Eunice Curtiss. Samuel Sutliff died on 7 February 1840 at Vernon, Clinton County, OH, USA, at age 74. Samuel Sutliff (1765–1840) was the fourth of nine children of Samuel Sutliff Sr. (1733–1799) and Eunice (Curtiss) Sutliff (1734–1803). He was baptized 11 April 1765 in Durham, CT. His family moved to Hartland, CT when he was thirteen, where they lived in a farm near the Massachusetts state line. He served six months in the American Revolutionary War as a substitute for a citizen of Hartland, CT, for which he received property in Herkimer County, NY. He married Ruth Granger (1770–1843) on 19 May 1793 in Hartland, CT. In 1797 he and several of his siblings moved to various parts of New York. In 1804 he, his family, and several of his siblings made a journey lasting several weeks to Ohio, where he settled down in Vernon Township, Trumbull County.

Samuel and Ruth Sutliff had seven children: an unnamed infant (?–17 May 1794), Allen Curtiss Sutliff (27 Feb 1796, Hartland, CT–6 Nov 1873), Samuel Harvey Sutliff (15 Jan 1803, Litchfield, NY–3 Sep 1843), Levi Sutliff (12 Jul 1805, Vernon Twp, OH–25 Mar 1861), Milton Sutliff (16 Oct 1806, Warren, OH–24 Apr 1878, Warren, OH), Calvin Granger Sutliff (17 Apr 1808, Vernon Twp, OH–2 Feb 1852), and Flavel Sutliff (24 Jun 1811, Vernon Twp, OH–5 Feb 1843, Vernon Twp, OH). He was buried at Pioneer Cemetery, at Vernon, Trumbull County, OH, USA.
