The body of James Higgins, 85, who passed away at his home in Rochester, Mich., Jan. 4, was brought to Cass City for burial Friday. Rev. Charles Bayless, pastor of the local Methodist church, offered prayer at the grave.
Mr. Higgins leaves a son, A.H. Higgins, of Cass City and two daughters, Miss Matie Higgins, who lived with her father, and Mrs. Nora Price, of Oxford.

Hold Last Rites For Evelyn Higgins
Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Higgins, 85, widow of Albert Higgins, were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Douglas Funeral Home. Rev. F.W. Porter of the Methodist Church, of which she was a member, officated and burial was in Elkland Cemetery. Mrs. Higgins, a patient in the Stevens Nursing Home, for three and a half years, died Saturday afternoon.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Kenneth Higgins of Allen Park and Leland Higgins of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four grandchildren, including Kennethh Higgins of Allen Park, who was raised by his grandparents, and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Higgins was a member of Echo Chapter O.E.S.. She was buried at Elkland Twp Cemetery, at Cass City, Tuscola County, MI, USA.

Mattie Higgins Died In Rochester Friday
The remains of Miss Matie (Mary Roxana) Higgins, 71, who died Friday night in her sleep in her home in Rochester, were brought here for burial in the family plot in Elkland Cemetery on Tuesday.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Higgins and was born in Elmwood township on Dec. 23, 1874. She worked as a jeweler here and later in Rochester. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. in Rochester Tuesday and a grave service was conducted here.
One of a family of six, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nora Price of Oxford, nieces and nephews.
The following relatives from a distance accompanied the remains to Cass City for burial on Tuesday; Mrs. Nora Price and daughter Mrs. Virginia Chamberlain of Oxford, Dr. and Mrs. Munroe of Jackson.. She was buried at Elkland Twp Cemetery, at Cass City, Tuscola County, MI, USA.

     In 1906 she was a jeweler in Rochester, MI.
