     Nina Hinds was born on 29 April 1896 at NY, USA. Family history says birth in 1896, Social Security gives the 1897 date.¹ She was the daughter of Francis Marion Hinds and Minerva Jane Witherell. Nina Hinds died in February 1992 at Westfield, Chautauqua County, NY, USA, at age 95.²

     Carl Marion Hinds was born on 26 August 1897 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, USA.¹ He was the son of Francis Marion Hinds and Minerva Jane Witherell. Carl Marion Hinds died on 8 January 1989 at Syracuse, Onondaga County, NY, USA, at age 91.¹

     Alta was born at Addison, Steuben County, NY, USA, in 1858. Birth according to the 1870 Census of Ossian, Livingston Co, NY. The 1860 census of Addisonm Steuben Co, NY shows her as 3 years old.. She was the daughter of John S. Witherell and Catherine Rolls. She married Saul (Solomon) Horton at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, USA, circa 1876. Alta Witherell died on 3 November 1931 at Allegany County, NY, USA. She was buried at Canaseraga Cemetery, at Canaseraga, Allegany County, NY, USA.

     Charles Witherell was born on 28 June 1857 at Addison, Steuben County, NY, USA. 1860 census of Addison, Steuben Co, NY shows him as 6 years old. 1900 census says Jun 1853.¹ He was the son of John S. Witherell and Catherine Rolls. Charles Witherell appeared on the census of 1910 at Pleasant View Twp, Emmet County, MI, USA. The census lists the family as: Charles Witherell, 53, single, born NY, parents born NY; lodger in home of Merritt Ronney, 27; wife Josephine, 21.. He died on 8 July 1914 at Traverse City State Hospital, Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, MI, USA, at age 57.¹ He was buried at Pleasant View Cemetery, at Pleasant View Twp, Emmet County, MI, USA.

     Charles died unmarried and is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Emmet Co, MI. At the 1880 census he is still in NY, and is not found at the 1900 census.
     The Compiler recently found a note in his mother's handwriting, on the back of an envelope and stuck in a Witherell genealogical history. This note said that Walter Witherell bought 80 acres in Section 28, Pleasant View for $240.00 and Charles Witherell bougnt 40 acres in Section 15 for $160.00.

The census lists the family as: Living with Nathan Smith and called brother-in-law; but he is really the brother-in-law of his brothers wife Catherine, living nex door.. He married Lena Webb in 1906 at Emmet County, MI, USA. Walter H. Witherell died on 10 March 1947 at Bear Creek Twp, Emmet County, MI, USA, at age 84.¹ He was buried at Pleasant View Cemetery, at Pleasant View Twp, Emmet County, MI, USA.

Saul (Solomon) Horton appeared on the census of 1880 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY. The census lists the family as: Saul Horton, 34, born NY; wife Alta, 22, born NY; dau Carry, 1, born NY. Living next door to Alta's parents John S. Witherell and wife Catherine.. He died in 1920 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY.      Claude Henry Gottschall was born in 1877 at NY, USA. Age 27 at the 1910 census and called Claud H. Age 53 at the 1930 census. He married Mabel Pennock at NY in 1907. Married 2 years at the 1910 census.. Claude Henry Gottschall died in 1957 at Allegany County, NY, USA. Cemetery records.      Harry Nelson Gottschall was born on 19 February 1912 at NY, USA. Age 7 at the 1920 census.¹ He was the son of Claude Henry Gottschall and Mabel Pennock. He married Edna M. Clohecy at NY. Harry Nelson Gottschall died on 15 March 2005 at Syracuse, Onondaga County, NY, USA, at age 93. Harry Nelson (Bill) Gottschall passed away in Deland, Florida, on Tuesday, March 15, at the age of 93. He was born in Canaseraga, NY, and moved to Syracuse in 1937. Harry retired as Service Manager for Bill Rapp Pontiac in 1974. He was predeceased by his sister Elaine Walker. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Edna (Clohecy) Gottschall; his daughters, Lucille (Sid) Chester, Barb (Bill) Lang; son, Bill (Pat) Gottschall; his grandchildren, Patricia Orr, Mark Orr, Kevin (Laura) Orr, David (Shari) Lang, Deborah (Steven) Verrillo, Kate (Anthony) Futia, Timothy Gottschall and Jennifer Gottschall; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Reformed Church of Syracuse. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street.      Edna M. Clohecy was born on 23 September 1914 at NY, USA. She married Harry Nelson Gottschall at NY. Edna M. Clohecy died on 17 March 2013 at DeLand, Volusia County, FL, USA, at age 98.
Edna M. (Clohecy) Gottschall of Syracuse, passed away at the home of her daughter, Lucille Chester in Deland, Florida on Sunday, March 17. She was 98 years old. She was born in Bristol, NY on September 23, 1914 and moved to Syracuse in 1937. She attended nursing school in Dansville, NY and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was an avid letter writer and kept in close contact with all her friends and family. She had a great love for the area she was born in and dearly loved to visit Bristol. She touched many people's lives and will be missed by them all. She was predeceased in 2005 by her husband of 70 years, Harry Nelson (Bill) Gottschall, and her brother, Elton Clohecy.
She is survived by daughters, Lucille (Sidney) Chester, Barbara (Bill) Lang; son, William (Pat) Gottschall; her grandchildren, Patricia Orr, Mark Orr (Joe Nappi), Kevin (Laura) Orr, David (Shari) Lang, Deborah Verrillo, Kate (Anthony) Futia, Timothy Gottschall, Jennifer Gottschall; brother, Glen (Margaret) Clohecy; several great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be private. She will be laid to rest with her loving husband in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.

     Allen G. Witherell was born in 1819 at NY, USA. He was the son of Joseph Witherell and Mary Polly Fuller. Allen G. Witherell appeared on the census of 1860 at Burns, Allegany County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Allen W. Witherell, 44, lumberman, born NY; living with James O. Moore, 50, lumberman, and Cordelia, 44.. He died circa 1899.

     The 1860, 1870, 1880 censuses show Allen as unmarried and a farm laborer or lumberman It is ver hard to choose a birth as he is age 44 (1816) at the 1860 census, age 48 (1821) at the 1870 and 60 (1819 at the 1880 census. With no other information the compiler chooses a birth date 1819.

     Emma Fedelia Cutter was born in February 1850 at NY, USA. 1900 census, age 50, born Feb 1850 in NY. Age 28 at the 1880 census. She married Walter Scoon Witherell at Dansville, Livingston County, NY, USA, on 4 October 1866. Married 33 years at the 1900 census.. Emma Fedelia Cutter died on 5 October 1905 at Groveland, Livingston County, NY, USA, at age 55. Husband is widowed at the 1910 census.. She was buried at Canaseraga Cemetery, at Canaseraga, Allegany County, NY, USA.

Exact date and location from a Passport application dated 16 Jan 1918. He was the son of Walter Scoon Witherell and Emma Fedelia Cutter. Wells Walter H. Witherell married Emilia M. Tucker circa 1895 at NY, USA. Wells Walter H. Witherell appeared on the census of 1900 at Grove, Allegany County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Harry Witherell, may 1895, 4, born NY; Bessy Witherell, feb 1898, 2, born NY; living with grandparents Walter and Emma. No parents with them.. He applied for a US Passport on 16 January 1918 at Buffalo, Erie County, NY, USA.^1,2,3 He died on 19 April 1933 at Allegany County, NY, USA, at age 65.⁴ He was buried at Canaseraga Cemetery, at Canaseraga, Allegany County, NY, USA.      Jannette Witherell was born in 1871 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, USA. Age 9 at the 1880 census. She was the daughter of Isaac H. Witherell and Janette Faucett.

     It is not clear that she is a daughter of Isaac but they are both living with Walter at the 1880 census and she is called a Niece.

     William was born on 25 January 1936. He married Esther Rose Hinds on 6 January 1955. William Duffy died on 5 November 1987 at age 51. He was buried at Westview Cemetery, at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, USA.
