She was buried at Woodbourne Reformed Cemetery, at Woodbourne, Sullivan County, NY, USA.

     Fanny was born 1831 or 1834, in Bovina Center or Kortright, Delaware Co., NY according to Bible records. The 1880 census found Fanny living with her husband, J. Francis in Neversink, Sullivan Co., NY along with her daughter Frankie and J. Francis's grandson Frank W. Her Will dated 30 August 1895 was witnessed by W. W. Smith and Elmer R. Grant. The Will gives her age as 64, and named Frank W. Hodgkin her grandson; however, he was actually the son of her stepson Nathan. Her Will also names her Heidt grandchildren, Pluma, Wille, Harry, and Leon.

Mariah Smith appeared on the census of 1900 at Neversink, Sullivan County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Mariah, b 3-1826, age 74, boarder in home of Fred Dure.. She died after 1900 at Neversink, Sullivan County, NY. Death date was never filled in on gravestone.. She was buried at Hodge Cemetery, at Neversink, Sullivan County, NY, USA.

     Mariah had been married to a Mr Smith. Geoffrey Brown says that her maiden name was likely Davis.

     Orpha Jane Everts was born in 1833 at Sullivan County, NY, USA. She is age 17 at the 1850 census, age 27 at the 1860 and age 36 at the 1870, and age 43 at death.1 She was the daughter of John Everts and Penelope Niece. She married Nathan G. Hotchkin at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY, USA, circa 1855. Orpha Jane Everts died on 1 June 1876 at Aden, Sullivan County, NY, USA.1 She was buried at Hodge Cemetery, at Neversink, Sullivan County, NY, USA.

     Orpha's surname is given as Everts in her son Frank's marriage license. Brown called her Wetheral but the 1850 census shows clearly that she is Everts and her parents are John and Penelope Everts. When Fred married Ella he gave his mother as Effie Ebits. It is likely that Ebits is just reading some bad writing.2

Hotchkin at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY, USA, on 26 June 1879. Emily Susan Young appeared on the census of 1910 at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY. The census lists the family as: George T. Young, 60, single, born NY, Emma S. Hotchkin, 62, widow, born NY..

     Her marriage to Nathan G. Hotchkin is documented in the Liberty Register on July 11 1879. An Emily Hotchkin, born April 1848, age 52 is listed in the 1900 census of Liberty, living with her brother Geo. T. Young. It is not known whether this may be Susan, but no marriage of an Emily Young to a Hotchkin can be found. She is called Emily at the 1870 census, living with her mother and brother George.1

Jane Ann Davis died on 6 June 1872 at Rockland, Sullivan County, NY, at age 30. She was buried at Old Parksville Cemetery, at Parksville, Sullivan County, NY, USA.

     According to records held by her great granddaughter, Joan W. Everett; Jane Ann was the daughter of Capt Albert Davis and Helen Magdalena Krum. Capt Davis is said to have applied the blindfolds at public hangings in Sullivan Co., NY.The birth and death dates come from her records. At the 1870 census, she and Luther are living next door to Jane's parents.

Age 34 at the 1860 census, age 45 at the 1870 census, bot 1880 census gives his age as 50.3 He was the son of William Bonnell. Daniel Reynolds Bonnell married Sophia Hardenburgh circa 1847 at Sullivan County, NY, USA. Daniel Reynolds Bonnell appeared on the census of 1860 at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY. The census lists the family as: Daniel, 34, born NY; Sophia, 34, born NY; Cassine M., 12, born NY; William H., 9, born NY; James, 6, born NY; Herman M., 4, born NY; Nancy, 1, born NY.. He married Sarah Ann (Sally) Hotchkin at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY, in 1870. The date is given in US and International Marriages 1560 -1900.. Daniel Reynolds Bonnell died on 31 August 1894 at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY, at age 70. Gravestone says 1874..3 He was buried at Fallsburg Neversink Cemetery, at Neversink, Sullivan County, NY, USA.

     He was the son of William Bonnell, a Miller in Liberty, NY. He was first married to Sophia Hardenburgh, who died in 1868, per the Bonnell tombstone in Velie Cemetery, and later he married the housekeeper of his motherless children, Sarah Ann Hotchkin. Daniel died by suicide as he was despondent over his eye sight and a Note, that he and James Schoonmaker had co-signed, and that a close friend, Benjamin W. Winner, had left him obligated for. Ben W. Winner was a man with a lot of influence in Liberty. He was the Sheriff for many years and ran a Wood and Brick yard which fell on bad times. Winner was first convicted of fraud and then later acquitted and sued all participances for many years. The case was still in court as late as 1900. Daniel cut his throat with his straight razor while shaving.4,5

Hotchkins, Self, age 38, farmer, born in NY, father born in CT, mother in NY; wife Fanny, age 42, born in Ny, keeping house, parents born in NY; dau, Evaline, age 12, born in NY; son Gurden, age 10, born in NY; son George L., age 4, born in NY; other, Phebe Benton, age 24, born in NY, domestic servant. The census, of course is incoreect, Seth and Gurden are sons of seth Hotchkin.. She died on 13 August 1897 at NY, USA, at age 50. Gravestone says 1895.. She was buried at Granton Cemetery, at Cannonsville, Delaware County, NY, USA. They were removed from Granton Cemetery for the Cannonville Reservoir and moved to East Branch Cemetery. She is described as Malcolm's grandmother in the cemetery removal lists..

     Fanny was first married to Seth Hotchkin and after his death to Luther B. Hotchkin. The information on Fanny Twadell comes from Jerrie Moore in a letter dated 27 May 1985 to G. Brown.

     He is buried with his parents and his gravestone says died at 22 years, 8 months, 25 days.1

Walter James Hotchkin1

     Walter James Hotchkin was born on 28 October 1895 at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA.2 He was the son of Earnest Frank Hotchkin and Anna (Annie) Miller Mueller.
     Reports Walter J. Hotchkin in hospital Stuttgart, Germany, leg amputated, in good condition. Not getting mail from home.
Walter James Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1920 at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA. The census lists the family as: Walter Hotchkin, 24, b IL; living with brother in law William E. Thomas.. He married Pearl Lula Rosell at Dayton, Montgomery County, OH, USA, in July 1927. Walter James Hotchkin died on 28 June 1975 at St Mary's Hospital, Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, OH, USA, at age 79.1,3,4 He was buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, at Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, OH, USA.

     Hugh M. Hotchkin supplied information on Walter J. and his family. The 1900 census of Chicago, Cook Co., IL finds Walter with his parents. His age is given as 4 and his birth in IL. Walter's nephew Raymond says that Walter died of a stroke in Ohio. Walter J., a Corporal in World War I, was captured by the German's and lost a leg due to wounds. The War Department announced his release on January 31st 1945. Another announement said that he was the last prisoner released because of his injuries and need for hospitalization.
After World War I he worked as a nurse at a Veterans Hospital, and was a farmer; during World War II he worked at ordinance plant at Lima, Ohio. Walter J. Jr. says that his father was raised a Catholic and later converted to Methodist. The Social Security records give his birth on 28 October 1895 and death June 1975. His Social Security card was issued in OH and death benefits in OH.

Frank William Hotchkin1

     Frank William Hotchkin was born on 25 May 1876 at Aden, Sullivan County, NY, USA. Gravestone shows date 25 May 1876.2 He was the son of Nathan G. Hotchkin and Orpha Jane Everts. He married Eunice E. Lewis at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY, USA, on 16 March 1899. The 1900 census would place the marriage in 1898..3 Frank William Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1900 at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Frank W., age 24, b 5-1876 in NY, married 2 years; wife Eunice, age 23, b 1-1877 in NY, married 2 years, one child, one living; son Earle, age 10 mo, b 8-1899 in NY. 242 92 22 58. He registered for the World War I Draft in 1918 while living at White Sulphur Springs, Sullivan County, NY, USA. The registration card gave additional information on him: "He says that he is 41, born 25 May 1877, and a farmer working for Frank Hotchkin in White Sulpher Springs (this is likely his grandfather). He gives his nearest relative as Horce Hotchkin living in Liberty, NY.". He died on 4 May 1962 at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY, at age 85.2 He was buried at Orchard Street Cemetery, at Livingston Manor, Sullivan County, NY, USA.

     Frank's birth is documented in a family bible held by Iva Hotchkin Tuttle. He was born just a few days before his mothers death. Because of his mothers death, he was taken to be raised by his grandfather, Francis Hotchkin and his 3rd wife Fanny Tompkins and appears in the 1880 census of Neversink with that family. This census refers to him as Frankie W. According to Brown's book; his friends remember him as a tall, thin man with a happy disposition, who was very musical, loved to play his fiddle and dance.4

The census lists the family as: Hotchkins, Elizabeth, 17, (1842), NY, Domestic; is living with the Fuller family.. She married Peter L. Krum at Sullivan County, NY, on 11 December 1860. Marriage date according to Sullivan County Record.. She married John Teller Evans at Ellenville, Ulster County, NY, USA, on 8 February 1905.2 She resided at Ellenville, Ulster County, NY, in 1905. Elizabeth Hotchkin died in 1918 at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY.3 She was buried at Liberty Cemetery, at Liberty, Sullivan County, NY, USA.

     Elizabeth and Peter lived in Parksville where he was a carpenter and farmer on 105 acres of land. According to the family bible records she married her sister Celia's husband after the death of Peter and Celia. The NY state Marriage Index has a marriage in Ellenville, NY for an Elizabeth Hotchkin on 8 February 1905.

Francis and his wife Hattie are buried in Velie Cemetery, Neversink. In their plot is Ella Cortright, wife of Frederick, son of Francis's brother Nathan.
