He married Annie Lee Sykes at Bibb County, GA, USA, on 8 October 1901. Pierce Quarles Edwards lived in 12 September 1918 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA. He lived at this address when he filled out World War I documentation. He registered for the World War I Draft on 12 September 1918 while living at Memphis, Shelby County, TN.. He appeared on the census of 1930 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA. Pierce and his wife Annie lived in Macon, GA from the date of their marriage through 1905 according to the Macon City Directories. He was listed first as a bookkeeper and then as a paper hanger. They lived with her parents at 619 First St. and then at 509 Arch St; until 1905 when they lived by themselves at 568 First St. In 1907, they appear in the Birmingham, AL City Directory; there is no preserved copy of the 1906 directory. They were still in Birmingham in 1908 and 1909. There are no directories for 1910 through 1915. They appear in the Memphis City Directories, first in 1916 at 1066 McDowl St. In 1919, they are at 159 Adams and at that location again in 1920. In 1921 they are at 573 Walnut St; in 1922 at 336 Jefferson St; in 1923 at the same location; in 1924 at 928 Walnut St. They are back in the Birmingham Directory from the years 1926 through 1931, and gone after 1931. They appear in the 1932 Memphis Directory at 863 Manassas and at the same location in 1933; in 1934 at 680 Leath; in 1935 at 872 Adams; 1936 at 2027 E. Courtland; in 1937 the directory misses them; in 1938 at 258-b N. Lauderdale; and at that same location until 1942; in 1943 at 264 Exchange Ave., apt A; after Pierce's death in 1944 the family lived at 188 Exchange St., Apt 446.

Mr. Edwards, who was 65, had been an invalid seven years. Services will be held at 10:00 AM tomorrow morning at Spencer Sturia Chapel with Rev. Joseph Owens officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery. Born in Bartow Co., GA, Mr. Edwards lived in Birmingham several years and moved to Memphis in 1914. He served a year in Cuba during the Spanish American War. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and had been connected with Local 49, Brotherhood of Painter, Paperhangers and Decorators of America for 40 years. He leaves his wife Annie Sykes Edwards; three sons, Pvt. Frank C. Edwards and J. R. Edwards, both of Memphis, and V. P. Edwards Sr. of Pittsburgh; three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Billingsly of Birmingham; Mrs. W. H. Fossick of Memphis and Miss Sarah Catherine Edwards of Memphis; three brothers, D. F. Edwards of Dublin GA; W. R. Edwards of Atlanta, GA; and J. R, Edwards of Shawmut, AL; two sister, Mrs. Cora Orr and Mrs. Estelle Whitaker, both of Kennesaw, GA; and five grandchildren.

Pierce was born at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA, on 20 February 1916.1 He was the son of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Pierce Quarles Edwards Jr. died on 3 March 1919 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, at age 3.2 He was buried on 4 March 1919 at Elmwood Cemetery, at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA.3
The death certificate gives his death from Dysentery, bad water. At the time of his death, his parents lived at 159 Adams. The date for his birth given on the death certificate was 15 Feb., 1916; while that given by the clerk at the birth records department of Shelby County was 20 Feb., 1916. This clerk claimed that she couldn't give us a copy of the birth record because it didn't have a given name on it and prior to issueing any records, a parent must go through the procedure of assigning a given name. The Death Certificate calls him Pearce I. Edwards and his father I. I. Edwards. (Both are wrong.)
