     Sarah Catherine (Sallie) Edwards was born on 5 March 1864 at Fairmount, Gordon County, GA, USA.¹ She was the daughter of John Fletcher Edwards Jr. and Drucilla Frances (Mary) Quarles. Sarah Catherine (Sallie) Edwards married Jasper Van Buren Robertson on 21 January 1882 at Bartow County, GA, USA. Sarah Catherine (Sallie) Edwards died on 14 August 1894 at Jesup, Wayne County, GA, USA, at age 30.¹ She was buried at Bethlehem Baptist Ch Cemetery, at Jesup, Wayne County, GA, USA.

     Frances Edwards Fossick remembers that her Uncle David lived in Lakewood, FL and had an orange grove. She doesn't remember his wife’s name, but believes that they had children. According to Pierce Q. obituary in 1944, he lived in Dublin, GA.

     William was born at Elbert County, GA, USA, on 12 February 1871.¹ He was the son of John Fletcher Edwards Jr. and Drucilla Frances (Mary) Quarles.      At the 1880 census he is with his parents in Cartersville. He is buried next to his brother Emory in the Acworth, Mars Hill Cemetery. Frances Edwards Fossick says that he had two sons, one named Charles. At the time of the death of his brother Pierce, 1944, he was living in Atlanta, GA.

     Emory was born at Bartow County, GA, USA, on 25 January 1873.¹ He was the son of John Fletcher Edwards Jr. and Drucilla Frances (Mary) Quarles. Emory A. Edwards registered for the World War I Draft on 17 June 1917 while living at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA.. Emory died on 21 January 1939 at Acworth, Cobb County, GA, USA, at age 65.¹ He was buried at Mars Hill Cemetery, at Acworth, Cobb County, GA, USA.²

     William R. and Emory A. are buried in adjacent graves. Frances Edwards Fossick remembers Emory as a very large man.

     James Richard Edwards was born on 28 June 1876 at Cartersville, Bartow County, GA, USA. He was the son of John Fletcher Edwards Jr. and Drucilla Frances (Mary) Quarles. James Richard Edwards married Helen Mildred Frances Mooty on 14 June 1898 at LaGrange, Troup County, GA, USA. Date from 1930 census. James Richard Edwards appeared on the census of 1920 at Shawmut, Chambers County, AL, USA. The census lists the family as: J. R. Edwards, 43, born AL; Helen, 43, born AL; dau Corrie Ella, 19, single, born AL; son James, 13, born AL.. He resided at Shawmut, Chambers County, AL, in 1944. He died on 26 January 1947 at Shawmut, Chambers County, AL, at age 70.¹

     According to Frances Edwards Fossick he lived in Dothan, Houston Co., AL. The obituary of his brother Pierce, in 1944, says that he was living in Shawmut, AL.

     Pierce Quarles Edwards was born on 4 March 1879 at Cartersville, Bartow County, GA, USA. He was the son of John Fletcher Edwards Jr. and Drucilla Frances (Mary) Quarles. He married Annie Lee Sykes at Bibb County, GA, USA, on 8 October 1901. Pierce Quarles Edwards lived in 12 September 1918 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA. He lived at this address when he filled out World War I documentation. He registered for the World War I Draft on 12 September 1918 while living at Memphis, Shelby County, TN.. He appeared on the census of 1930 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA. The census lists the family as: Pierce Edwards, 51, born GA, painter; wife Annie L. 44, born GA; son John, can't read, born AL; dau Sarah, can't read, born AL. He died on 11 March 1944 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA, at age 65. He was buried at Memphis National Cemetery, at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA.¹

     Information comes from his daughter, Sarah Catherine Edwards Hotchkin and birth certificates and marriage licenses in her possession. He was a member of Company D, 3rd US Infantry during the Spanish American War. He and his wife Annie are buried in the Memphis National Cemetery in the same plot, Grave #32, Section H. Their marriage license shows that they were married on Oct. 8, 1901 by Rev. J.B. Johnstone, M.G. and it was recorded as Book K, Folio 57, on Oct, 16, 1901. Pierce and his wife Annie lived in Macon, GA from the date of their marriage through 1905 according to the Macon City Directories. He was listed first as a bookkeeper and then as a paper hanger. They lived with her parents at 619 First St. and then at 509 Arch St; until 1905 when they lived by themselves at 568 First St. In 1907, they appear in the Birmingham, AL City Directory; there is no preserved copy of the 1906 directory. They were still in Birmingham in 1908 and 1909. There are no directories for 1910 through 1915. They appear in the Memphis City Directories, first in 1916 at 1066 McDowl St. In 1919, they are at 159 Adams and at that location again in 1920. In 1921 they are at 573 Walnut St; in 1922 at 336 Jefferson St; in 1923 at the same location; in 1924 at 928 Walnut St. They are back in the Birmingham Directory from the years 1926 through 1931, and gone after 1931. They appear in the 1932 Memphis Directory at 863 Manassas and at the same location in 1933; in 1934 at 680 Leath; in 1935 at 872 Adams; 1936 at 2027 E. Courtland; in 1937 the directory misses them; in 1938 at 258-b N. Lauderdale; and at that same location until 1942; in 1943 at 264 Exchange Ave., apt A; after Pierce's death in 1944 the family lived at 188 Exchange St., Apt 446.
     An obituary published in the Memphis newspaper gives further information on the family and the life of Pierce Q... Retired Decorator will be buried tomorrow. Pierce Q. Edwards of 264 Exchange, retired interior decoration contractor and veteran of the Spanish American War, died at 11:20 AM yesterday morning at Veteran Hospital. Mr. Edwards, who was 65, had been an invalid seven years. Services will be held at 10:00 AM tomorrow morning at Spencer Sturia Chapel with Rev. Joseph Owens officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery. Born in Bartow Co., GA, Mr. Edwards lived in Birmingham several years and moved to Memphis in 1914. He served a year in Cuba during the Spanish American War. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and had been connected with Local 49, Brotherhood of Painter, Paperhangers and Decorators of America for 40 years. He leaves his wife Annie Sykes Edwards; three sons, Pvt. Frank C. Edwards and J. R. Edwards, both of Memphis, and V. P. Edwards Sr. of Pittsburgh; three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Billingsly of Birmingham; Mrs. W. H. Fossick of Memphis and Miss Sarah Catherine Edwards of Memphis; three brothers, D. F. Edwards of Dublin GA; W. R. Edwards of Atlanta, GA; and J. R, Edwards of Shawmut, AL; two sister, Mrs. Cora Orr and Mrs. Estelle Whitaker, both of Kennesaw, GA; and five grandchildren.
     The 1910 census shows that they had 4 children and only two living. Cathy and her sister can only account for 3, unless Billie was born that early.

     According to Frances Edwards Fossick the Orr's operated a large chicken ranch in Acworth. Frances says that they had no children.

     Robert was born at Newberry, Newberry County, SC, USA, on 10 March 1784. He married Isabelle Jones in 1808 at Elbert County, GA, USA.      The 1830 and 1840 census indicates that Robert and his wife had 6 sons and one daughter. One son born about 1828, two born 1815 to 1820 and three born 1805 to 1810. The daughter was born 1810 to 1815. The family had a total of 10 slaves; only 5 of which were of working age. By the 1840 census only 2 sons were still at home, these being born 1800 to 1820; the daughter, born 1800 to 1810 was still with the family. An additional female, possibly one of their mothers, born 1860 to 1870 was now with the family. This census only listed the free colored persons 14 of these people total 11 were likely of working age. Robert has not been identified prior to or after the 1830 and 1840 census. At the 1840 census, Robert and his son John were living on adjacent properties. John was originally identified as the son of Robert Lee from family information held by Vines Preston Edwards.

     Vines Preston Edwards, son of Pierce Q. Edwards collected the basis information on the family. John Fletcher Sr. must have lived in Elbert Co., GA as his marriage to Sarah is recorded there and Sarah is mentioned in the Will of her father William, recorded in Elbert Co., GA A John F. Edwards married a Margaret S. Clark, 22 Aug 1833 in Elbert Co., GA. Some Internet records from unknown source says that he came from Edgefield Dist, SC.

     William Dyson Rich was born in 1789 at Wake County, NC, USA. He married Sarah Barron at Wilkes County, GA, USA, on 8 December 1810. Georgia marriage records. William died on 15 July 1843 at Pine Log Creek, Gordon County, GA, USA.

     Williams's Will was dated 9 April, 1842 and recorded 9 Jan., 1843. It mentioned his wife Sarah, sons David A.,not yet of age, and John. His executors were his son John Rich and David Rich. The relationship of David is not identified. His wife Sarah was listed as his Executrex.

     His obituary says, “The Rev. Vines P. Edwards, 82, of 2052 Edith Ave., died Friday. He was a native of Macon, GA and had lived most of his life in Birmingham. He was a retired engineer from Hayes Aircraft and was a retired Methodist minister. He was a member of the Docena Masonic Lodge. Funeral will be at 3 PM today at Bell Forestdale, with burial in Elmwood. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Edwards; three sons, Vines P. Edwards Jr. and Richard A. Edwards, both of Birmingham, and Grady C. Edwards, Watumpka; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Bentley, Atlanta, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Frances Fossick, Selma, Tenn., and Mrs. Kathryn Hotchkin, Pasadena, Calif.
     His son Richard says Vines was a workaholic who had to leave school early because his family was poor. He became a draftsman by correspondence school and a mechanical engineer by experience.

     Pierce was born at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA, on 20 February 1916.¹ He was the son of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Pierce Quarles Edwards Jr. died on 3 March 1919 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, at age 3.² He was buried on 4 March 1919 at Elmwood Cemetery, at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA.³

     The death certificate gives his death from Dysentery, bad water. At the time of his death, his parents lived at 159 Adams. The date for his birth given on the death certificate was 15 Feb., 1916; while that given by the clerk at the birth records department of Shelby County was 20 Feb., 1916. This clerk claimed that she couldn't give us a copy of the birth record because it didn't have a given name on it and prior to issueing any records, a parent must go through the procedure of assigning a given name. The Death Certificate calls him Pearce I. Edwards and his father I. I. Edwards. (Both are wrong.)

     Ruby was born at Macon, Bibb County, GA, USA, in 1904. Death certificate says age 1 at last birthday..¹ She was the daughter of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Ruby died on 28 June 1906 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA.² She was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA.³

     Ruby must have been born in Macon as the Macon City Directory has them living at 521 Arch St. in 1904 and at 568 1st St. in 1905. She is buried in a single grave at the Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham and her death certificate says age 1 year at last birthday.

     Aurie was born at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA, in 1910. She was the daughter of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Aurie died in 1915 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL. She was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA.¹

     Frank Comer Edwards was born on 16 December 1906 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA. He was the son of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. He married Louise Faulk at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA, in 1927. Frank Comer Edwards and Louise Faulk were divorced circa 1937 at Shelby County, TN, USA. He married Julia Delia Bledsoe at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, in 1939. Frank Comer Edwards died on 18 October 1974 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, at age 67. He was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA.¹

     His sisters Frances Fossick and Sarah Catherine Edwards Hotchkin furnished the information. He is buried in grave 106, #2 at Eastview Memorial Park, Memphis, TN, near his sister Rosa Belle Edwards.
     His obituary, published October 20, 1974 in the Memphis newpaper, reads: "Frank C. Edwards, 67, of 816 Bartlett Road, Apt. 14, retired partner of Edwards & Edwards public accountants, died Friday at Methodist Hospital South. Mr. Edwards started the firm about 20 years ago and retired last year. He was a member of Eudora Baptist Church. Services will be at 11:30 AM tomorrow at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel with burial in Memorial Park. He leaves his wife Delia, a son, James E. Edwards of Memphis, three sisters, Mrs Rosa Billingley and Mrs Frances Fossick, both of Memphis, and Mrs Katherine Hotchkin of Pasadena, Calif., and a brother, Vines Edwards of Birmingham.

     Rosa Belle Edwards was born on 12 August 1913 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA. She was the daughter of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Rosa Belle Edwards appeared on the census of 1930 at Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, USA. The census lists the family as: Living with aunt Rosa and Neal Valley.. She married W. Curtis Billingsley at TN, USA. Rosa Belle Edwards died on 15 October 1976 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA, at age 63. She was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA. Grave 106, #1.¹

     Billie was born circa 1905. The only information is the memory of sisters Sarah Catherine Hotchkin and Willie Frances Fossick.. He was the son of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Billie Edwards died before 1910.

     The only information is the 1920 census where the name William F. is given. Catherine Edwards Hotchkin and her sister Frances Fossick remember him called Billie.The William F. is Willie Frances.

     Willie was born at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA, on 16 June 1918. She was the daughter of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Willie Frances Edwards married Wilner Henry (Buddy) Fossick on 10 August 1935 at Hernando, DeSoto County, MS, USA. Willie Frances Edwards died on 9 September 2008 at Ridgeway, Fairfield County, SC, USA, at age 90. Died at 10:45 AM according to her son Thomas, after spending the night in the hospital.. She was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA.
