     James Monroe Rich was born circa 1815. He was the son of William Dyson Rich and Sarah Barron. James died circa March 1849. Date from his Will..

     James' Will, dated 27 Feb., 1849 mentions his Uncle John Rich of Mississippi; his mother, Sarah Rich; his brother and sister David A. and S. Rich; his father William Rich; and John F. Edwards, trustee for his sister Sarah E. A. Edwards. His Executors were to be his friends, Thomas J. Heard and John F. Edwards. The Will was witnessed by Joseph T. Edwards, Richmond Rich, and Dunston B. Verdel.

     George was born at AL, USA, on 10 September 1885. His WWI Draft Card. Mary Francis gives the year as 1884.¹ He was the son of Matthew Fielding Maddox and Mamie A. Wishhart. He married Maude Myrtice Sykes at AL in 1915. George died in February 1929 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA, at age 43. Mary Frances Woodruff gives the 1929 death date..² He was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA. Removed from Forest Hill Cemetery..³

     It is reported that George committed suicide. At the 1910 census he is a boarder and living with Robert Wishart (George's middele name).

     Mary Frances Maddox was born on 2 October 1921 at AL, USA.¹ She was the daughter of George Wishhart Maddox and Maude Myrtice Sykes. She married Willis Post Woodruff at AL on 27 May 1950. Mary Frances Maddox died on 14 September 2003 at Santa Fe, Santa Fe County, NM, USA, at age 81.² She was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA. Mary Frances Woodruff wife of Willis Post Woodruff.

     Agnes Valley was born after 1915. She was the daughter of Cornelius P. (Neal) Valley and Rosa (Roseville) Sykes.

     Agnes was an adopted daughter of C. P. Valley and wife Rose.

     Emma was born at GA, USA, in May 1891. Date according to 1900 census.. She was the daughter of George Washington Sykes Jr. and Lelah Electra Ingram.

     Emma must have died young as she does not appear in any of the family pictures.

     Unnamed was born at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA, on 7 January 1921. Unnamed died on 7 January 1921 at Memphis, Shelby County, TN. He was the son of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. Unnamed Edwards was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, at Memphis, Shelby County, TN, USA.¹

     Elmwood Cemetery records says that child was stillborn, unnamed and sex not known.

     Robert was born at Acworth, Cobb County, GA, USA, in 1902. Date from 1910 census. He was the son of William Robert (Will) Edwards and Della Hill.

     The 1930 census gives his name as Charles R. Edwards.

     William Russell Edwards was born on 5 March 1900 at GA, USA. Date from 1900 census. He is called Russell in 1900 and William R. in 1910. Exact date comes from Draft Application. He was the son of William Robert (Will) Edwards and Della Hill. William Russell Edwards registered for the World War I Draft on 12 September 1918 while living at Atlanta, Fulton County, GA, USA.. He married Nellie Geneiva Edwards in 1925 at GA. William Russell Edwards appeared on the census of 1930 at Atlanta, Fulton County, GA. The census lists the family as: William R. Edwards, 30, married at 25, born GA, parents born GA; wife Nell G., 23, married at 17, born GA, father born England, mother born GA; dau Dorothy N., 5, single, born GA.. He died on 16 December 1949 at Atlanta, Fulton County, GA, at age 49.

     Andrew Hemphill Morris was born on 6 April 1844 at NC, USA. Age 36 at the 1880 census of Stilsboro, GA. He married Louisa P. Quarles at Bartow County, GA, USA, on 3 March 1870. Andrew Hemphill Morris appeared on the census of 1880 at Stilesboro, Bartow County, GA, USA. The census lists the family as: Andrew H. Morris, 36, born NC; L. P. Morris, 26, born GA; living with Andrew's parents, Thomas, age 75, born NC and Mary, age 70, born NC.. He died on 7 September 1919 at Floyd County, GA, USA, at age 75.      H. Luther Sims was born circa 1856. He married Mariah W. Quarles at Bartow County, GA, USA, on 8 July 1882. H. Luther Sims died before 1952.

     Davis Shaw was born in October 1869 at GA, USA. 1900 census. He married Lena Quarles at GA.

     William was born at Elbert County, GA, USA, on 8 December 1839. He was the son of John Fletcher Edwards Sr. and Sarah A. E. Rich. William Reuben (Uncle Tom) Edwards died on 6 April 1905 at Atlanta, Fulton County, Ga, USA, at age 65. He was buried at Westview Cemetery, at Atlanta, Fulton County, GA, USA.

     Della M. Nichols was born on 26 March 1872 at GA, USA. She was the daughter of Arthur Nichols and Margaret Unknown. She married James Samuel Orr at GA on 9 December 1896. He was age 30 when first married according to the 1930 census.. Della M. Nichols died on 22 August 1911 at Cobb County, GA, USA, at age 39. She was buried at Mars Hill Cemetery, at Acworth, Cobb County, GA, USA. Cemetery notes say "wife of J. S. Orr"..

     Augustus (Gus) A. Skinner was born on 26 March 1835 at Morgan County, GA, USA. He married Mary Elizabeth Edwards at GA, USA, circa 1860. Augustus (Gus) A. Skinner appeared on the census of 1870 at Cartersville, Bartow County, GA, USA. The census lists the family as: August Skinner, 32, born GA, retired (can't read what); wife Mary E., 27, born GA; son William A., 8, born GA; son John Y. ?, 4, born GA; daughter Mary M., 1, born GA; Sarah A. E. Edwards, 52, born GA; Sarah M. Edwards, 24, born GA.. He died on 30 April 1881 at Cartersville, Bartow County, GA, at age 46. Death of Mr. A. A. Skinner.

We regret to announce in this issue of The Express the death of Mr. A. A. Skinner, which event occurred at his residence last Saturday evening at 6 o'clock, after an illness of several months. The deceased was too well known in this community for us to say anything that would add to his memory, as he became a resident of this place in 1854, when it was but a small village, and has been identified with its business interests for a quarter of a century. He was born in Morgan county March 26th, 1834, and was therefore but a little over 47 years old, and has been a leading member of this church ever since the war and was a steward at the time of his death. He leaves four children, three boys and a girl, besides other relatives, to mourn his loss, his wife having preceded him some 6 or 7 years. As a business man he was known as strict, honest and attentive; as a friend, one who could be relied on in any emergency; as a neighbor, kind and obliging; as a father and husband, devoted to the interests of his loved ones; and he was as strict in religious matters as in secular. Truly, it may be said of him that "whatsoever his hands found to do, he did it with his might." He will be missed in the business, social and religious world. His remains were interred in Oak Hill cemetery at 5 o'clock, p.m., Sunday, services being conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. J. Jarrell, assisted by Rev. Theo E. Smith, of the Presbyterian church, and were followed by a large concourse of people as was ever assembled in Cartersville on any similar occasion. Peace to his ashes.

The undivided one half interest in the one story brick store house and lot formerly known as the A. A. Skinner & Co. store. Said store fronting 25 feet, more or less, on Main street on the north, and lot running back south 200 feet, more or less.

Sold as the property of estate of A. A. Skinner, late of said county, deceased, for division. Terms one-half cash, balance in six months with interest at eight percent per annum.

Robert died on 20 March 1933 at Acworth, Cobb County, GA, USA, at age 65. Death date in cemetery records.¹ He was buried at Mount Zion Baptist Cemetery, at Cobb County, GA, USA.²

     Allen was born at GA, USA, on 1 February 1862.¹ He was the son of Allen C. Edwards and Melissa J. Kirk. Allen died on 24 October 1935 at Cobb County, GA, USA, at age 73.¹ He was buried at Marietta, Cobb County, GA, USA.²

     Willie was born at GA, USA, on 11 February 1871. Birth date from cemetery records.¹ He was the son of Allen C. Edwards and Melissa J. Kirk. Willie died on 24 July 1896 at Cobb County, GA, USA, at age 25. Death date from cemetery records.¹ He was buried at Mount Zion Baptist Cemetery, at Cobb County, GA, USA.²

     Margaret was born at GA, USA, on 22 January 1814. She was the daughter of Larkin Clark and Lucy Simpson. She married John Fletcher Edwards Sr. at Elbert County, GA, USA, on 22 August 1833.^1,2 Margaret Simpson Clark died on 12 March 1838 at Elbert County, GA, at age 24.

     Daniel W. Edwards was born on 13 May 1826 at GA, USA. Date from cemetery records. These records call him B. W. Edwards. He married Martha Shaw at GA on 20 January 1856. This marriage is clearly shown in the Elbert County marriages but the 1850 census show M. Edwards and the 1860 census shows Martha Edwards..¹ Daniel W. Edwards appeared on the census of 1860 at Grove, Elbert County, GA, USA. The census lists the family as: Daniel W. Edwards, 34, Mechanic, born GA; Martha, 31, born SC; Seliter A., 13, born GA; Martha J., 11, born GA; Rachel E., 9, born GA; Henry D., 6, born GA; James F., 4, born GA; Mary, 2, born GA.. He was buried at Mount Bethel Cemetery, at Marietta, Cobb County, GA, USA.

     It is obvious that either the marriage record is wrong or the first 5 children have an earlier mother. The marriage is as printed in Elbert Co., GA white marriages. The 1850 census calls the mother M. Edwards, age 22. The Compiler does not know which is wrong.

     Martha was born at SC, USA, on 9 August 1826. Date from cemetery records. She married Daniel W. Edwards at GA, USA, on 20 January 1856. This marriage is clearly shown in the Elbert County marriages but the 1850 census show M. Edwards and the 1860 census shows Martha Edwards..¹ Martha died on 25 December 1898 at GA at age 72. Date from cemetery records. She was buried at Mount Bethel Cemetery, at Marietta, Cobb County, GA, USA.

     Seliton was born at Elbert County, GA, USA, in 1847. She was the daughter of Daniel W. Edwards and Martha Shaw.

     Martha was born at Elbert County, GA, USA, on 25 July 1849. Date from cemetery records. She was the daughter of Daniel W. Edwards and Martha Shaw. Martha died on 28 September 1897 at Marietta, Cobb County, GA, USA, at age 48. Date from cemetery records. She was buried at Mount Bethel Cemetery, at Marietta, Cobb County, GA, USA.
