     Sarah (Sally) F. Edwards was born in 1848 at Cobb County, GA, USA. She was the daughter of Henry Simeon Edwards and Mary Williford Green.

     Sarah was born at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA, on 11 February 1928. She was the daughter of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. She married Edgar Elwyn Hotchkin at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, USA, on 11 July 1947.¹

Sarah Catherine (Cathy) Edwards died on 24 June 2010 at Pasadena, Los Angeles County, CA, USA, at age 82. Cathy died in the Compilers arms at 5:22 PM after a valiant fight of many years with Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy. she had bee unable to speak for several years and on a G-tube for feeding for 5 years. I loved her very much.. She was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Covina Hills), at Covina, Los Angeles County, CA, USA, .

     The Compilers wife Catherine was born in Birmingham, AL but her family moved to Memphis, TN when she was very young and she grew up in that city. When the Compiler met Catherine, she was known as Kitty but after we were married a few years, I started calling her Cathy and her family and friends now know her by that name. Sarah gets used only on a few legal documents. Cathy was the youngest child in a large family of which only six lived beyond childhood. We have identified 12 births of which two were stillborn; but Cathy has always believed that there were 14 total. She attended Hume High School in Memphis, which has the distinction of being the high school of Elvis Presley; but she says that he was 3 years behind her and she never knew him. Cathy and I met on a blind date in Memphis when I was stationed at Millington Air Base during part of my Navy service. She has been my constant helpmate in our real estate business and in the research of the Hotchkin family.
     In the mid 1990's she started showing signs of a Parkinson-like disease. This was later diagnosed as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. As it progressed she was unable to move, talk or eat. She has been on G-tube feeding for the last five years. Throughout all of this she has been very strong and brave. She died in my arms with her family and loving Caregivers around her.
     There are many storines to tell about Cathy. She was frugal to the extreme but loved her jewerly and personal care. Her fingernails and hair were always just perfect. Her ear ring collection totalled into the hundreds. Cathy was known for her practical jokes like the time that she set many alarm clocks in a friends motorhome to go off at different hours of the night. During the early days of her illness when it was believed that she had Parkinson's she was on the drug Maripex which is known to cause compulsive behaviors. She would orders hundreds of things from catalogs that I would have to send back. One day at a motorhome outing a rather wide friend bend over a picnic table and she ran into his rear with her 3 wheel scooter.
     She was my love, my best friend and we did everthing together for 63 years.

Sarah Catherine (Sallie) Edwards died on 14 August 1894 at Jesup, Wayne County, GA, USA, at age 30.¹ She was buried at Bethlehem Baptist Ch Cemetery, at Jesup, Wayne County, GA, USA, .

     Elmwood Cemetery records says that child was stillborn, unnamed and sex not known.

     Vines Preston Edwards was born on 4 March 1903 at Macon, Bibb County, GA, USA. He was the son of Pierce Quarles Edwards and Annie Lee Sykes. He married Ruby Burdett. Vines Preston Edwards appeared on the census of 1930 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA. The census lists the family as: Vines P. Edwards, 25, born GA, parents born GA; wife Ruby, 25, married at 17, born AL parents born AL; son Vines P. Jr, 5, born AL; son Grady, 3 ?/12, born AL; aunt Berta Syles, 39, single, born GA, parents born GA.. He married Helena Wiencek at Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, PA, USA, on 16 February 1941. Vines died on 31 May 1985 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, at age 82. Date according to his Death Certificate. He died at the Cook Springs Nursing Home. He was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA, . Funeral was conducted by Bell Funeral Home of Birmingham, AL. Buried in the same site as his sister Margaret Louise Edwards..¹

     His obituary says, “The Rev. Vines P. Edwards, 82, of 2052 Edith Ave., died Friday. He was a native of Macon, GA and had lived most of his life in Birmingham. He was a retired engineer from Hayes Aircraft and was a retired Methodist minister. He was a member of the Docena Masonic Lodge. Funeral will be at 3 PM today at Bell Forestdale, with burial in Elmwood. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Edwards; three sons, Vines P. Edwards Jr. and Richard A. Edwards, both of Birmingham, and Grady C. Edwards, Watumpka; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Bentley, Atlanta, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Frances Fossick, Selma, Tenn., and Mrs. Kathryn Hotchkin, Pasadena, Calif.
     His son Richard says Vines was a workaholic who had to leave school early because his family was poor. He became a draftsman by correspondence school and a mechanical engineer by experience.

     Vines Preston Edwards Jr. was born on 24 June 1924 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, PA, USA. He was the son of Vines Preston Edwards and Ruby Burdett. He married Eva Porter at AL, USA.
