Walter Edward Dougherty registered for the World War I Draft on 12 September 1918 while living at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, USA. The registration card gave additional information on him: "Walter Edward Doughterty, born 12 sep 1900, Bench Inspector at Reo Moters, residence 1134 Kingsley Ct, Lansing, MI. Father Edward Doughterty.". He married Ruth Clarice Hotchkin at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, on 22 November 1925.^1,2

Walter Edward Dougherty appeared on the census of 1930 at Lansing, Ingham County, MI. The census lists the family as: Walter E. Dougherity, Rents $35.00, 29, married at 25, born PA, father born NY, mother born PA; wife R. Clarice, 24, married at 20, born MI, father born IL, mother born MI; dau Winona, 2, born MI; dau Frances E., 3/12, born MI.. He married Mabel Rosencrans at Milford, Pike County, PA, USA, on 23 June 1957.¹ Walter Edward Dougherty died on 4 April 1977 at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, at age 76.^1,3

Walter was a photographer for the Lansing State Journal and agreed to photograph the Compilers wedding. He said that none of the pictures were any good so we never got pictures of our wedding except for the formal pictures taken at a studio.
