Samuel Chase was born on 17 March 1789 at Worcester, Otsego County, NY, USA. Age 61 at the 1850 census and 71 at the 1870 census. He married Lydia Spencer, daughter of Phineas Spencer and Anna Elizabeth Holland, on 15 May 1823 at Worcester, Otsego County, NY. Samuel Chase appeared on the census of 1850 at Maryland, Otsego County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Samuel Chase, 61, born VT, cooper; Lydia, 54, born NY; Mary C., 18, born NY; Reuben C., 15, born NY; Alphonse D., age 13, born NY; Juliette, age 10, born NY.. He appeared on the census of 1860 at Maryland, Otsego County, NY. The census lists the family as: Samuel Chase, 71, cooper, born VT; Lydia, 64, born NY; Mary, age 27, born NY; Ruben, age 2?, born NY; Prudenc, 25, Law Student, born NY; Alphonse, 23, Laborer, born NY.. He died on 20 February 1870 at Maryland, Otsego County, NY, at age 80.
