John Delos Saunders was born on 20 February 1898 at NY, USA. Family members furnished a birth date of 23 Oct 1902 but this is obviously wrong as he appears in the 1900 census. The date used is from the cemetery records.¹ He was the son of Charles L. Saunders and Susan Lucretia Hotchkin. He married H. Jannette Presler at Corning, Steuben County, NY, USA, on 10 December 1919.¹ John died on 31 July 1923 at NY at age 25.¹ He was buried at Prattsburgh Rural Cemetery, at Prattsburgh, Steuben County, NY, USA, .

Delos and Jeanette drowned in Lake Waneta and there was custody fight over the children between grandparents. The maternal grandparents won and the children took the name of their grandparents Owen C. and Anna M. Presler.
