Cemetery inscription says " The Body of Elizabeth the wife of Thomas Hodgkin who died December 14th 1787, aged 46..⁵

According to Geoffrey Brown, a 1972 letter to the Hotchkiss Family Association from Catherine McHenry Rogers, identifies a second wife of Thomas, one Eunice Rose. No documentation for this marriage was provided in the letter; however, Elizabeth's death at age 45 and the fact that Thomas is not buried with her, suggests that a second wife is very possible. Mrs. Rogers said that she was a descendant of Thomas' son Ambrose. Based on this information, it is possible that the last three children, Ambrose, Eunice, and Thomas should be listed under a second marriage to Rose. However, in that case we must have Elizabeth's death in error.^6,7
