He married Lucile C. Hotchkin at Sturgis, Meade County, SD, USA, on 21 October 1922.² Clay E. Ness appeared on the census of 1930 at Clough, Meade County, SD, USA.      There is no proof that this is the correct Dayton or that Dayton is a child of Ira and Dacel. The birth after the 1930 census does mean that Dayton would not have shown on any earlier censuses in Ira's family.
