     According to Bible records, Abigail was born on 3 January 1780 in Kent, CT. She died after the 1855 state census of Sullivan Co., NY. Her marriage to Seth is listed in "Marriages and Deaths in Dutchess County 1778-1825," by Helen W. Reynolds and also in Vol. 5 of the Collections of the Dutchess County Historical Society, Wednesday, April 18 1821; "on the 11th day inst., by Rev Luman Burch, Mr. Seth Hotchkin of Amenia and Miss Abbey Hubbel of Kent, CT." Rev Burch's Marriage Book records that the marriage took place at the Baptist Church of Stanford, Bangall, Dutchess Co., NY and he referred to the couple as both of Stanford. This marriage is also recorded in "10,000 Facts of Eastern NY.
     The 1855 state census of Sullivan Co. show Abigail Hotchkin living in Liberty with her stepson, Francis Hotchkin. She is age 70, widowed, born in CT and having lived in Liberty for 30 years.^1,2

     A newspaper article said that she died suddenly on a streetcar in Rochester, NY. This obituary calls her Annie.

DEATH OF PERRY'S OLDEST CITIZEN
Mrs. Patty Butterfield, after an illness of three weeks, died at the residence of her son, J. W. Butterfield, on Friday, April 13, aged 92 years. She leaves a family of four daughters and one son, all of whom were present during her entire illness, and at the time of her death, and did all that loving care could do to alleviate her sufferings and smooth her pathway to the tomb. Her venerable husband with whom she had lived for 66 years, only 6 years preceded her across the river of Death, to wait her coming, and welcome her to the other shore. Her funeral services were held on Sunday, April 15th, at the M. E. Church, in Perry, Rev. Benj. Excell officiating assisted by Rev. Smith, Pastor of the Baptist Church and Elder Richard Shepard and were attended by a large entourage of sympathizing friends and neighbors, who met to pay the last tribute of respect to one whose home has been among them for nearly half a century and whose many virtues commanded the esteem and admiration of all who knew her. The descendants of the deceased now living number fifty, two being of the fifth generation. The names of her surviving children are as follows: Mrs. L. B. Parker, of Kingsville, Ohio; Mrs. John Dow, of Ashtabula, Ohio; Mr. J. W. Butterfield, Mrs. J. J. Thomson and Mrs. C. M. Coolidge of Perry, O.
