     Robert S. appears in the 1927 Seattle City Directory for the first time along with his wife Helen L. He had a number of jobs during his life according to the directories. He was a machine operator in 1927; a manager of a Natural Food Co. in 1928; a Secretary to E.S. Watts and Co. in 1930, and an Insurance Agent (Equitable Life) in 1932 and 1933. In 1936 he was a salesman, and in 1940 a driver. He was listed as a salesman from 1948 to 1951. The 1953 book shows him as a draftsman at Boeing and the 1957 book has him as draftsman at the Todd Ship Yards. In 1959 he is a custodian at the Presbyterian Church, which is the last job shown prior to his death in 1965. They lived, first, at 3400 E. Marion, then 4600 W. Draves until 1939 when they moved to 3816 49th NE, and then at 2912 W. Blaine.
     His obituary says that, "he came from his native Elkhart, IN in 1915. He was a draftsman at Boeing for the past five years and a member of Lafayette Lodge No. 241, F & AM. Survivors are his wife Helen, daughters, Mrs. William J. Chilcote of Bothell; Mrs. Robert C. Drake, of Great Lakes, IL; and six grandchildren."

     Rodney's obituary in the Binghamton Press gives considerable information about him. It says that he lived on a farm in Chenago Forks at the time of death. He was a graduate of Binghamton Central High in 1920 and the Wharton School of Economics, Univ. of Pennsylvania. He worked many years as a Realtor and 15 years as an Industrial Engineer with Modern Design of Vestal. The Binghamton City Directories show him as a partner with his father in Hotchkin & Sons. Rodney was a life member of the Chenago Forks Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Norwick. His funeral arrangements were made by Fahy Funeral Home of Norwick. At the time of his death, his son was living in Norwich, his daughter in Binghamton, his brothers in Binghamton and Los Angeles. A few years after Rodney died, his wife Mary Jane moved to Florida to live with her son. She is now in a retirement home in Vestal, NY.

He married Lena A. Unknown at Holley, Orleans County, NY, USA, on 26 May 1887.² Roselle George Hotchkin and Lena A. Unknown were divorced in June 1892 at Rochester, Monroe County, NY, USA.³ Roselle George Hotchkin died on 17 June 1910 at Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, USA, at age 50. He committed sucide by jumping into the Niagra River and going over the American Falls..^4,5,6

     George was deeded his fathers property in Albion at the time of his mothers death, under the conditions that his father could occupy it and have all its benefits until his death. This property was located at 58 East State St., which is no longer standing and seems to be adjacent to the courthouse. This deed described George as a Commercial Traveler and his father’s obituary called him a perfume salesman. It also said that George was unmarried, which likely means that he wasn't married at that time as he was married on 26 May, 1887 at Holley, Orleans Co., NY under the name of Roselle G. Hotchkin. His wife's name appears in divorce documents as Lena A.
     He is listed in the Rochester City Directory starting in 1889-90 as R. G. Hotchkin, a salesman, with offices at 125 W. Main St. and a house at 173 Pearl; at the 1896 directory, he is Roselle G., a salesman with offices at 202 Court and boarding at 104 Chestnut; in 1901 his residence changes to the New Osburn House; in 1902 he moved to the Eggleston Hotel where he lived until 1909 when he is called a Manager with offices at 278 Main St and boards at 230 Chestnut; in 1910 his offices are at the 603 Livingston Bldg and still boarding at 230 Chestnut. His death is announced in the 1911-12 directory.
     An article in the Post Express, Rochester, NY, and dated 1 November 1898 says that R. G. Hotchkin, a Commercial Traveler, attempted suicide at the Butchel Hotel in Akron, OH. He had cut the artery of his left wrist and was found some time later, nearly dead. The article said that he was recovering well. He continues to appear in the Rochester City Directory as Roselle G. until the 1911-12 edition when it is noted that he has died.⁷

The W for marital status is unusual, nomally Wd is used for widow and it is not believed that Rovina was ever married.. She appeared on the census of 1930 at Grant Park, Kankakee County, IL, USA. The census lists the family as: Rovena Hotchkin, owns home, $2500, age 74 (1855), born NY, parents born NY, living by herself, no occupation..

     She is called Lavina in the 1860 census with her father and Rovina in the 1900 and 1920 censuses.

     Rozella was born at MI, USA, in 1839. She was the daughter of Abram Eli Hotchkin Sr. and Electa Smith. She married Joseph (Joel) H. Culver at Belvidere, Boone County, IL, USA, on 31 October 1858. Her marriage to Culver is given in Hotchkin Family Reunion Notes, no first name given. Marriage Certificate found in Boone Co. of marriage of Joe H. Culver to Rosa J. Hotchkin, 31 Oct, 1858. The Illinois Marriage Index 1763-1900 calls him Joel H.Culver..¹ Rozella (Rosa) A. Hotchkin died in 1863. This death date comes from Landmarks of Niagara County, New York and is not at all certain as a number of their facts are inaccurate..²

     We know that Rozella was with the family in Boone Co., IL because the Compiler has a copy of her marriage license to Joe Culver. This license refers to her as Rosa J. Hotchkin.
