     Miranda Kristi Hotchkin is the daughter of Gary Robert Hotchkin and Mary Cranson.

     Miron F. Hotchkin was born on 20 September 1856 at Cassville, Paris Twp, Oneida County, NY, USA.¹ He was the son of Noah B. Hotchkin and Emeline L. Monroe. Miron F. Hotchkin was a Cattle Dealer circa 1880. He married Julia E. Tripp at Oneida County, NY, USA, in 1882. Miron F. Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1900 at Bridgewater, Oneida County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Miron, age 43, b 9-1856; wife Julia E., age 42, b 3-1858 in NY; son George M., age 15, b 5-1885 in NY.. He appeared on the census of 1910 at Paris Twp, Oneida County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Myron F. Hotchkin, age 54, m1, 31 yr, 3 children, 1 living, b NY, parents b NY; wife Julia E., age 52, b NY, parents b NY.. He died on 29 July 1915 at Paris Twp, Oneida County, NY, at age 58.² He was buried at Sauquoit Valley Cemetery, at Clayville, Oneida County, NY, USA, .

     The 1870 census finds him in Paris, Oneida Co., NY., age 13, with his parents, and attending school. His grandson, George Hotchkin of Cassville, NY gives added information on this family and says that the information comes from an old bible, which furnishes a first name of Miron, not Myron. The Paris Town Clerk gives a date of 29 July 1915 for his death and George’s bible records and a gravestone in Sauquoit Valley Cemetery on Church Road, off Holman City Rd. and Old #8, confirm this date. The family graves in this cemetery have been viewed and recorded by the Compiler. Miron's birth date comes from George's bible and is confirmed as to month and year by his gravestone. Grandson George says that Miron was a cattle dealer.
     Miron is named in his mothers Will and left $1,000. Oneida Co. records show three real estate transactions under his name: On 27 April 1898, Miron was the grantee from Lottie M. Bayles, Libr 540, pg 392; on 15 May 1900 he was the Grantee on property from Georgie B. Townsend, Libr 566, pg 352; and on 28 February1906 he was Grantee from John J. Davis, Libr 615, pg 263.
     According to the 1910 census we have 1 child of this marriage missing as they say that they had 3 children and 1 living. We have only accounted for two.

     Monroe was born at MI, USA, in 1849. Marriage in 1870 gives his age as 22. The 1850 census has him age 1, born in MI.. He was the son of Thomas H. Hotchkin and Mary Ann (Molly) Brown. He married Luretta (Nettie) Hurd at Wayne, Wayne County, MI, USA, on 4 May 1870. Married by C. W. Knickerbocker.¹ Monroe Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1880 at New Haven Twp, Shiawassee County, MI, USA. The census lists the family as: Munroe Hodchkins, age 31, b MI; wife Lunette, age 28, b MI; dau Berenice, age 1, b MI.. He resided at New Haven, New Haven County, CT, USA, in 1880.

     Information on this family comes from their marriage license and the birth certificate of son Thomas B.Hotchkin. Monroe was born in Ann Arbor and Lorette in New York. On the birth record, she is called Nettie.

Myrtle M. Hotchkin married Herbert W. Williams, son of James A. Williams and Carrie E. Warren, on 29 January 1916 at Lake County, IN, USA.² She married James P. Guthrie Jr. at Chicago, Cook County, IL, on 23 April 1923. Myrtle M. NY File No. 16456. 30 years old at death according to Obituary.^1,2 She was the daughter of John Albert Hotchkin and Elizabeth (Libbie) Balcom. She married John Leslie Ripson at Youngstown, Niagara County, NY, USA, on 6 September 1920.³ Myrtle Violia Hotchkin died on 26 October 1932 at Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, USA, at age 30.⁴

     Nancy Hotchkin was born in November 1859 at Neversink, Sullivan County, NY, USA. She was the daughter of Joshua Francis (James) Hotchkin and Nancy Leroy. She married Benjamin Schoonmaker at Hurleyville, Sullivan County, NY, USA, on 22 April 1883. The Compiler has a note that this marriage date is according to Bible records, but no further indication as to the bible.. Nancy Hotchkin died in 1909 at Neversink, Sullivan County, NY.

     The marriage of Nancy to Schoonmaker is identified in the Will of William Mead Hotchkin as he excludes his half-sister Nancy from his Will because J. Francis left nothing to William.

     Gertrude A. Barber's, "Wills of Sullivan Co.," lists his Will which was probated on 13 September 1893. His tombstone says that he was 60 years, 5 months, and 14 days old at death, however bible records give his birth as 2 March 1831. The census records give an indication of the marriage of Nathan and Orpha Jane as about 1850-1855. Nathan's marriage to Sarah is known only from the divorce records while the marriage to Susan on 26 June 1879 is recorded in the Liberty Register of 11 July 1879. The 1872-73 Gazetteer and Business Directory of Sullivan Co. lists him as a farmer and carpenter with 20 acres in Neversink.^3,4

     Neil Austin Hotchkin was born on 30 April 1926 at Grinnell, Poweshiek County, IA, USA.¹ He was the son of Charles Towne Hotchkin and Mary Amelia DeHart. Neil Austin Hotchkin enlsted on 8 January 1945 while living at Fort Snelling, Hennepin County, MN, USA. His enlistment notes said: " Neil A. Hotchkin, born 1926, native of Iowa, enlisted for duration, 3 years of high school, single, no dependents. Height 60, weight 00.". He married Judy Lester circa 1953. He married Joyce Marie Deer on 14 February 1959. Neil Austin Hotchkin died on 3 August 1995 at Kellogg, Jasper County, IA, USA, at age 69.² He was buried at Our Silent City Cemetery, at Kellogg, Jasper County, IA, USA, .

     His obituary in the Des Moines Register, August 5, 1995, says that he died of a heart ailment Thursday at Skiff Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 AM Monday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery.

The 1900 census confirms a Jan 1878 birth.^2,3 She was the daughter of William Samuel Hotchkin and Celida Amanda Wright. She married Marshall Pitkin Howard at Binghamton, Broome County, NY, USA, on 1 January 1903.^1,4,5,6 Nellie Leigh Hotchkin died on 15 May 1905 at Rochester, Monroe County, NY, USA, at age 27.      Nellie Louise Hotchkin was born on 29 August 1914 at Neversink, Sullivan County, NY, USA.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Mead Hotchkin and Pearl May Grant. She married Justus (Dutch) Asthalter at Grahamsville, Sullivan County, NY, USA, on 28 March 1937.³ Nellie Louise Hotchkin died on 25 March 1987 at Parksville, Sullivan County, NY, USA, at age 72.      Geoffrey Brown says that Nellie was a member of the Liberty Methodist Church, and that Rev Duane Buddle conducted her funeral. According to the Middletown Times, she was buried in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery. Nellie and Justin resided in Parksville.

     Noah Hotchkin and a partner were arrested and sentenced to State Prison for breaking into a neighbors barn and stealing some goods.²

     Noah B. Hotchkin, a State Prison convict has been arrested and charged with burning the Briggs boys slaughter house.³
He died in 1879 at Paris Twp, Oneida County, NY.⁴ He was buried in 1879 at Sauquoit Valley Cemetery, at Clayville, Oneida County, NY, USA, .

     The Compiler is now convinced that Noah does not belong as a son of Eli, as he had him is the 1991 book, and has assigned him as a son of Noah II and Merab Turner because they have a son not identified in the 1830 census and the name Noah. At the 1840 census Noah B. lived within a few properties of Henry, who we have never identified. It is possible that Henry is brother Harvey. The death certificate of Noah's son Miron gives his father's birth in Broome Co., NY.
     Noah first appears in the 1842 Oneida County Grantee Index, where on 15 April he bought a property from Reuben Sweet, Libr 104, p 399. He appears next in the 1851 Grantor Index, where on 25 February he and his wife Emeline make a sale to Lucinda Maxon and W. Burdock, Libr 154, p 353. On 15 May 1877, Emeline L. appears as the Grantee and Chas. P. Rider as Grantor, Libr. 371 p 205.
     Noah is listed in the 1860 census of Paris with his wife Emiline and four children. Next door lived his son Charles with the family of Charles Monroe, 46 and wife Harriet, age 50 and Safrona, age 52. In 1870 they live next door to Charles Hotchkin and his wife Mariah. Noah is age 58 and has $300 in personal property, but no real estate. Noah has not yet been found in any earlier census, but it is likely that he is the Noah Hotchkier at Marshall, Oneida Co., NY, p 393 in the 1840 Census.
     The death records of Harriet E. with a birth indicated in 1824 leave 12 years between her birth and Charles and it would be likely that there were other children in this period.

     Noah Frank Hotchkin was born on 27 September 1832 at Niagara County, NY, USA.¹ He was the son of Abram Eli Hotchkin Sr. and Electa Smith. He married Evilena Ann Granville on 25 September 1856. Noah Frank Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1870 at Rives Twp, Jackson County, MI, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Frank, 35 (1834), NY; wife Eva S.,32 (1837), Maine; dau Emma, 3 (1866), MI; and 4 sons, Franklin, 12 (1857), IL; William, 9 (1860), NY; George, 6 (1863), NY; and James.8/12 (Oct 1869), NY. Living next door to brother Abram Jr.. He was a Peddler in 1870. He appeared on the census of 1880 at Charlotte Village, Niagara County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Frank, age 46, b NY, Laborer; wife E.A., age 48, b ME; son George, age 16, b NY; dau Emma, age 13, b MI; son James E., age 10, b MI, dau Mary R., age 4, NY; son no name (Elmer), age 4 months, b NY.. He died on 31 October 1885 at Benton Harbor, Berrien County, MI, USA, at age 53. Cemetery records just give a death year of 1885 and call him N. F. Hotchkin..^1,2 He was buried at Morton Hill Cemetery, at Benton Harbor, Berrien County, MI, USA, .

     His family always knew Noah Frank as Frank. This branch of the family had a habit of calling children by their middle names; the Compilers father was always called by his middle name, Elwyn. Some of the records that the Compiler holds give Frank's death date as 1 November but his tombstone in the Morton Hill Cemetery has a date of October 31 1885. The 1870 census finds him in Leslie, Rives Twp., Jackson Co., MI living next door to his brother Abram Jr. with his wife Eva S., one daughter Emma and four sons Franklin, William, George, and James. The census says that his occupation was a peddler. At the 1880 Census, he was in Charlottesville, Niagara Co, NY. Following the birth locations of his children we know that he lived in Boone Co., IL in 1857 and was in Niagara Co., NY by December 1861. Between April 1864 and July 1867 he returned to Jackson Co., MI; and then returned again to Niagara Co., NY between October 1869 and July 1875. He again returned to Michigan and lived in Benton Harbor after his last child, Elmer, was born in 1879.
     Etta Matthews in her Hotchkin Family Reunion Notes claims that he did not serve in the Civil War because he had a disability. There is no information as to how severe this disability.

     Norma Elizabeth Hotchkin was born on 23 June 1901 at Elkhart, Elkhart County, IN, USA. Hovey bible gives the date. Indiana Marriages give the date as 24 May. She was the daughter of Dana Herbert Hotchkin and Jeanne Grace Sage. Norma Elizabeth Hotchkin married Floyd Loraine MacGlinsey, son of William Harry MacGlinsey and Mary Young, on 29 May 1924 at Elkhart, Elkhart County, IN.^3,4 Norma Elizabeth Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1930 at Elkhart, Elkhart County, IN. The census lists the family as: Norma Hotchkin, 28, divorced, born IN, father birth place unknown, mother IN, living alone. No employment.. She married Claude J. Gurney at Elkhart, Elkhart County, IN, in 1934.⁵ Norma Elizabeth Hotchkin died on 3 January 1936 at IN, USA, at age 34.

     Norris Fernold Hotchkin was born on 14 October 1902 at Central City, Merrick County, NE, USA.^1,2 He was the son of Franklin Evi Hotchkin and Mary Winona (Minnie) Hendrick. He married Inis Norene Franklin at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, USA, on 29 November 1923. Norris Fernold Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1930 at Lansing, Ingham County, MI. The census lists the family as: Norris F. Hotchkin 26 (1903),married at 21 born in NE, father born in IL, mother in MI, lathe work at auto factory; wife Inez, 24 (1905), married at 19, born IN, father born in OH, mother in IN, no occupation; son Norris Jr (not true), 4 5/12, born in MI; son Donald D., 1 4/12, born in MI; mother Minnie W. , 63 (1866), born in MI, father born OH, mother in VT; sister Mable F., 40 (1889), born in MI, housework at private home.      Norris worked all his life for Oldsmobile in Lansing, MI as a skilled machinist and tool and die maker.

     Norris Franklin Hotchkin was born on 22 October 1925 at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, USA.^1,2 He was the son of Norris Fernold Hotchkin and Inis Norene Franklin. He married Janet Louise Savage at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, on 30 April 1948.³ Norris Franklin Hotchkin died on 19 November 1983 at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, at age 58.^1,2 He was buried at Delta Center, Eaton County, MI, USA, . Buried E/32/03.

     Norris and your Compiler were the closest two cousins in age as we were growing up. He died at a rather young age of a massive heart attack. Norris and Janet had no children.

     

     Odo Bernard worked most of his life for the Grinnell Glove factory.
Odo Bernard Hotchkin was born on 18 November 1909 at Kellogg, Jasper County, IA, USA.¹ He was the son of William Arthur Hotchkin and Mary Ellen (Nellie) Dowling. He married Bernice Zella Halstead at Rock Island, Rock Island County, IL, USA, on 24 November 1932. Obituary. He died on 12 September 1915 at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA, at age 44. Mary A. Hotchkin of the same address gave the information on his death certificate. Certificates says that parents were William and Ellan Quinn. Age 44 years at death according to IL Death Index..² He was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, at Frankfort, Will County, IL, USA, .³

     The Death Certificate for Oliver gives his full name as Oliver Joseph, the son of William and Ellan Hotchkin. It shows him living at 810 Buckingham Pl., Chicago for 6 years and a resident of Chicago for 10 years. The person furnishing the information was his sister Mary A. Hotchkin, who lived at the same address. The certificate said that he was single. His burial location was to be Mokena, IL but the cemetery was not indicated.

     Orson was born at Lewis, Crawford County, PA, USA, on 12 March 1887. 1900 census says birth Mar 1887, age 13, born PA. Exact date come from WWII Draft Reg which gives Meadville as his birth location.. He was the son of Lewis J. Hotchkin and Eleanor Holliday. Orson Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1930 at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA. The census lists the family as: Orson Hotchkin, 43 (1886), single, born PA, parents born PA, laborer for contractor.. He registered for the World War II draft in 1942 while living at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA. His draft card had additional information: "He gave his name as Orson Hotchkin, born 12 March 1887 in Meadville. He had no telephone and gave his brother Raymond Hotchkin at 721 Hickory Stm Meadville as his nearest relative. He worked at the Malleable Iron Works in Kerrtown, Meadville.      Oscar T. Hotchkin was born on 8 November 1862 at Sullivan County, NY, USA. He was the son of Luther B. Hotchkin and Jane Ann Davis. Oscar T. Hotchkin died on 11 March 1874 at Sullivan County, NY, at age 11. He was buried at Martin Cemetery, at Parksville, Sullivan County, NY, USA, .
