     Cyrus Hotchkin was born on 6 February 1889 at Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, USA. He was the son of Charles Eugene Hotchkin Rev. and Eleanor Copeland. Cyrus Hotchkin died on 10 December 1914 at Shreveport, Caddo County, LA, USA, at age 25. He was robbed and killed by 2 negroes who were later lynched by a mob of fifty men. The newspaper article says that he was an oil field worker who had come to Mooringport, LA recently and that his mother lived in Chiloquin, OR. The murderers were Charles Washington and Breard Henderson..¹ He was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, at Shreveport, Caddo County, LA, USA, . Buried under the name of C.      The 1900 census of Indian Territory shows him living with his father, brothers and sisters. Dorothy Garlington gives his death year and says that he was murdered. The conditions and cause of his murder are discussed under his death tag.

     Cyrus Hotchkin was born circa 1796.

     This family is found in the 1830 census of Lockport, Niagara Co., NY.This census calls him Hotchkin, but Deland's, "History of Jackson County, Michigan," describes a Cyrus Hodgkins, a native of New Hampshire, who came from England in early colonial times. He emmigrated to Niagara Co., NY and lived near Lockport, when he was about 20 years old, fought in the war of 1812; and had three sons and two daughters. He came to Michigan in 1832 and located on Sec. 17, in Summmit Twp. While living in Niagara Co., he married Miss Darling who died in Summit in 1842. This seems very clear to be the Cyrus Hotchkin of the Lockport, Niagara Co., NY, census of 1830. There also was a Cyrus Hotchkiss, born 1797.

     Dacel D. Hotchkin was born on 19 August 1899 at Central City, Merrick County, NE, USA.¹ She was the daughter of William Smith (Will) Hotchkin and Emma Lucinda Kinman. She married Ira August Ness at Clough, Meade County, SD, USA, on 25 January 1916. The marriage records call him Ira A. Hess..² She married Robert Howfield at WA, USA, after 1935. Dacel D. Hotchkin died on 9 April 1964 at WA at age 64.

     Her brother George supplied the information from his mothers notes. He says that she and her last husband Ira Ness had 12 children. Junella Denslow says that she died in Oregon. Anthony gives location as Merrit Co. but doesn't give state. Connie Skinner says that she died in April 1963. George W. Hotchkin says that she had another marriage to Mr. Hawfield. At the time of her mother's death in 1937, she was listed in the obituary as Mrs. Decel Ness of Union Center, SD. The information regarding her marriage to Ira Ness comes from the files of the Meade Co. Courthouse and says that they were married by Rev W. E. Wrapp, MG. After the death of Ira, Dacel married Robert Howfield. They lived in Seattle. A descendant of the Ness family claims that Dacel had a considerable collection of diamonds and stocks that were saved for her grandchildren. According to this decendant the family believes that Robert killed Dacel for her valuables.

     Dale Robert Hotchkin is the son of Clifford Wayne Hotchkin and Ruth Joann Johnson. He married Stacy Weber at Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, SD, USA, on 7 May 1983.¹

The registration card gave additional information on him: "Dana says that his age is 42, born 6 Nov 1875. He is self employed as an automotive dealer at 10`16-18 E. Pike St, Seattle. He gives his wife Jeanne Sage Hotchkin still living in Elkhard, IN at 214 Division ST.". He appeared on the census of 1920 at Seattle, King County, WA, USA.      Dana Hotchkin writes the local newspaper to say that he had the white handled revoler that his grandfather James Filkins carried and beat "Wash" Loomis with.¹¹
He died on 3 July 1959 at San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo County, CA, at age 83.^12,13

     The 1898 Chicago City Directory shows Dana H. Hotchkin, as a clerk, at 221 Adams and residing at 3326 Indiana, near to C. William Hotchkin at 3337 Indiana. This is the only directory that includes Dana or C. William Hotchkin. Starting in 1915, Dana is found in the Seattle city directories. In 1915, he is living at the Elks Club and working as a bookkeeper at the Metz Co. In 1919 he changed jobs to the Summit Motors Car Co. as Secretary-Treasure and lived at 3302 Charles St. This listing shows his wife as Frankie where no wife had been shown in the previous listings. In 1921 he becomes an auto dealer and lives at the same address. His listing is the same through 1924; and he is not listed after that year. Dana was deeded property in Oneida Co., NY at the death of his Aunt Mary J. Angier, 2 June 1899, Libr 522, pg 112. His death records say that he was born in New York state.¹⁴

     Daniel Hotchkin was born from 1805 to 1810 at NY, USA. He married Susan Unknown at NY circa 1843. Daniel Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1860 at Northfield Twp, Cook County, IL, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Daniel, age 55, b NY; wife Susan, age 43, b NY; dau Lavisa, age 16, b NY; dau Emma, age 14, b NY; son Eugene, age 6, NY; dau Alice, age 2, b IL.. He appeared on the census of 1880 at Grant Park, Kankakee County, IL, USA.      Based on the childrens births as indicated by the 1860 Census, they had lived in Chicago 2 to 6 years. It is possible that Daniel is a son of Harry based on his birth year.

     Compiler does not find this Daniel in any other census, so has no way of checking to see if he is a Hotchkin or Hotchkiss.

     Daniel Alonzo Hotchkin was born circa 1821 at CT, USA. He was the son of Harvey Hodgkin and Almira Hunt.

     Daniel B. Hotchkin was born in 1814 at NY, USA. He was the son of Noah Hodgkin III and Merab Turner. He married Minerva Snow at NY circa 1836. Daniel B. Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1850 at Spring Arbor, Jackson County, MI, USA. He was employed in 1860 as a Teamster. He appeared on the census of 1860 at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA. The census lists the family as: Daniel Hotchkin, Teamster, age 46, b NY; wife Minerva, age 43, b NY; son Daniel, age 22, b NY, laborer; dau Charlotte, teacher, age 19, b NY; dau Maria, domestic, age 17, b NY; dau Hellen, age 15, b NY; son Lewis, age 12, b MI; dau Elina, age 5, b PA; son Ladraw, age 2, b PA.. He appeared on the census of 1870 at Mead Twp, Crawford County, PA, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Daniel B., 55 (1814), NY, farmer; Minerva, 51 (1818), NY, keep house; Charlotte, 29 (1840), NY, at home; Lewis J., 22 (1847), MI, works on farm; Elma, 15, (1854), PA, at school; Albert Ladrew, 12 (1857), PA, at school. Also living with the family is daughter Hellen Chase, 25 and her daughter Minnie, 2 and Lurancy Snow, 48, born in NY..      Talcott lists both Daniel and his wife Snow, but doesn't give her first name; which comes from the 1950 and 1860 census. According to the birth records of the children, Daniel must have lived in New York from his birth until he moved to Michigan between 1845 and 1848. By the time that his daughter Elina was born in 1855 he had arrived in Pennsylvania. Daniel and his family must have followed his older sister Sally to Pennsylvania as she was there at the 1850 census and he didn't arrive until about 1855. The city directory of 1897-98 show him as a paper hanger and living at 572 Green St with Danial M Hotchkin.⁴

     Daniel James Hotchkin is the son of Michael James Hotchkin and Doris Louise Wiley. He married Leslie Ann Reeves on 19 March 1988.

     Daniel was born at NY, USA, in 1838. He was age 22 at the 1860 census and age 42 at the 1880 census.. He was the son of Daniel B. Hotchkin and Minerva Snow. Daniel Myron Hotchkin was a Private, andserved in Co F, 83rd PA Infantry, during the Civil War. Wounded at the battle of Wildeness, VA on May 7 1864.¹ He married Elsie A. Berringer at Crawford County, PA, USA, on 15 September 1867. Married by Squire Orlando Reed.. Daniel Myron Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1880 at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA. The census lists the family as: Daniel, age 42, b NY, parents b NY; wife Elsie, age 33, b NY, parents b NY; dau Blanche ?, age 12; son Burl ?, age 8; son Robert, age 2.. He died on 1 January 1898 at Meadville, Crawford County, PA.² He was buried at Greendale Cemetery, at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA, . Sec 2, Lot 32.

     Daniel's Civil War Pension file shows that he enlisted in Co. C, 83rd Regt., PA Volunteers on 3 September 1861 and was mustered out on 20 September 1864. He was wounded in the foot and entered Carver General Hospital in Washington, DC on 27 August 1862; later he was wounded in the left thigh at Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864. In Elsie' Pension Claim she says that Daniel died a poor man and left nothing for her as their home had been willed to them by his father and at Daniel's death it was to pass to other heirs. Her application lists one child, Sussie as being under 16 years of age.
     The city directory of Meadville, PA 1897-98 shows him as a Constable and living at 572 Greene street with D. B. Hotchkin.³

     Darrel Sperry Hotchkin is the son of James Ward Hotchkin Sr. and Zurah Adel Lonsberry. He married Nola Annette Rohrer at Okemos, Ingham County, MI, USA, on 25 July 1964.

     The Meadville directory lists David as Secreatry of the Fire Department, Dick Hose Company. On another page of the directory he is shown as a paper hanger and living with Danial M Hotchkin at 572 Greene St, Meadville. Robert Hotchkin lives at 573 Greene St.¹

The 1930 census says that she was first married at age 26, which would be 1905.Marriage given in Ontario Marriages 1857- 1922. He gives his parents as Dan M. Hotchkin and Elsie Barringer. She gives Phillip Miller and Elizabeth Harris as parents.David is given as age 33, a bachlor, Margaret, age 27, a spinster.. David Burl Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1910 at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA. The census lists the family as: David B. Hotchkin, 38 (1871), married first time, 3 years, born PA, father born PA, mother NY; wife Margaret, 30, married first time, no children, born PA, parents born PA..      David B. and his wife Margaret are found in the 1910 census of Meadville, PA. He is a painter and 38 years old. They had both been married only once, married for 3 years, and had no children. Both said that they were born in PA. David said that his father was born in PA and his mother in NY.
