     Ann was placed in the Fredric Hotchkin family based on a letter written by Rev. Ebenezer Hotchkin, 16 July 1860, from Oklahoma, to R. Wilson of the Presbyterian Board in Wilson, NY saying that his niece, Ann J. Hotchkin who had been his faithful helper, had returned to Lee, MA to see relatives and friends; expecting to return in the fall. Would the Board pay her travel? The Mattoon Family Genealogy supports this choice of Ann as the daughter of Fredric Hotchkin.³

     It seems very unlikely that Annie is a birth daughter of Jane as Jane's age would have been 56 at Annie's birth; however, cemetery records clearly list her as a daughter.

     Anthony Vaughn Hotchkin is the son of Emery Willis Hotchkin and Minnie A. Rogers. He married Marlys Jeanette Anderson at Sturgis, Meade County, SD, USA, in June 1955.¹ He married Hilda Marion Roberts at Rapid City, Pennington County, SD, USA, on 1 April 1967. There may be a mistake in this date as the Minnesota Birth Records 1935- 2002 have a birth of Agnes Mabel to Anthony and Hilda on 17 July 1960..¹

He appeared on the census of 1920 at Porter, Niagara County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Artimus, age 54, b MI, farmer; wife Margaret, age 56, b NY.. He died on 23 March 1947 at Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, USA, at age 81.² He was buried at North Ridge Cemetery, at Ransomville, Niagara County, NY, USA, . Sec 3, Lot 328 SD.

     According to the article in the Niagra Falls Journal, Friday, January 15 1909, Artimus and his wife, Margaret, attended the family Christmas reunion in Michigan, leaving home on December 22 1908 and returning on 6 January 1909. That article describes him as the son of Abram and his home as Ransomville, NY. Vital Records Cards of Niagara Co., NY taken from the Niagara City Herald, May 20 1887, Pg 1, show a Mr. A.C. Hotchkin married to Miss Maggie Clark. Based on this we will give her the last name Clark. The middle initial C is an error as we know that his mille name is Enmon. He and Maggie are buried in North Ridge Cemetery on a lot owned by their daughter Alice Kilmer. Land records show two real estate purchases for Artimus and Maggie Hotchkin. The first, in 1893 they purchased from Mary S. Pool, Vol 217-530, second in 1902, from Eliz. J. Ramson, Vol 278-366.
     The Compiler does not know where he got Alice and Sarah as children as the censuses show them to have no children at home between 1900 and 1920.

     Arthur Hotchkin was born in 1883 at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA. A printed listing of burials says that he died at age 3 yr, 3 mo, and 11 days which calculates to 12 Aug 1880. the handwritten original burial log give birth as 5/ /83. He was the son of Lewis J. Hotchkin and Eleanor Holliday. Arthur Hotchkin died on 23 November 1883 at Meadville, Crawford County, PA. Cemetery Records.¹ He was buried at Greendale Cemetery, at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA, . Sec X, Loc 94
There is conflicting information on Arthur. An online printed report gives the same death date, calls him a son of L. J. and Emilene Hotchkin and says that he was age 3 yr, 3 mo, and 11 days. The handwritten list gives the same death date and a birth date of 5/ /83..

     According to the Cornell and Princeton Directories, Arthur was a graduate of Princeton University in 1922.
     Personal letter addressed to the Compiler from Ruth Clapper, dated April 15, 1991, gives childrens names and addresses.

     Arthur James Hotchkin is the son of Richard Deine Hotchkin and Rosalie Ann Marsh.

     Ashley Hotchkin was born on 5 April 1805 at Maryland, Otsego County, NY, USA. Age 45 at the 1850 census and 55 at the 1860 census.^1,2 He was the son of Samuel Hodgkin and Mary (Polly) Spencer. He married Christina Haynes at Otsego County, NY, USA, on 10 March 1831.^1,2 Ashley Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1840 at Maryland, Otsego County, NY. The census lists the family as: pg 264; A. Hotchkin, 1 male 30-40, 1 female 20-30.. He appeared on the census of 1850 at Maryland, Otsego County, NY. He appeared on the census of 1870 at Maryland, Otsego County, NY, USA.      Ashley says in his book, "The Concise History of the Town of Maryland," that he opened the first tin shop and sash and blinds store in Maryland in 1844.
     Ashley's first recorded real estate transaction in Otsego County was in 1828, at age 23, was a sale of a property to J. & A. Willcox. His purchase of this property wasn't recorded unless the Compiler missed it. After that date he purchased properties in 1835 through 1854 from A. H. Brown, H.G. Sperry, A. Horse, G. Wright, H. G. Spencer, and A. Wicox. His sales started in 1828 and continued until 1848 to N. Alexander, J. G. Hawkins, H. Follett, J. A. Spencer, and J. F. Romaine. His wife Christina acquired and sold properties during the years of 1854 through 1883 with C. Brown, Eliz. Haynes, W. H. Gurney, her son W. S. Hotchkin, G. A. Shultz, C. W. Martin, and A. J. Welton.⁵

     Aubrey Earl Hotchkin Jr. was born on 9 September 1911 at NE, USA.^1,2 He was the son of Aubrey Earl Hotchkin Sr. and Bertha Hecox. He married Maude E. Perkins at OR, USA, circa 1955. Aubrey Earl Hotchkin Jr. died on 17 September 1970 at Santa Clara, Santa Clara County, CA, USA, at age 59.^3,2

     In 1959 Aubrey Jr lived at 3544 Columbia St, #1, San Diego, CA according to the city directory and he lived in Oregon (city unknown) in 1960 when his wife died. The Walla Walla Union, WA, Thursday November 8 1951 has an article about the arrest of Aubrey E. Hotchkin and Roy M. Wyatt for grand larceny and check forgery. The forgery extended from San Bernardino, CA to Pasco and Walla Walla, WA. Wyatt was picked up at a store and Hotchkin at a hotel. Wyatt said that Hotchkin was not involved and probabily didn't even know what he was doing.

     Aubrey Earl Hotchkin Sr. was born on 29 April 1887 at Sodus Twp, Berrien County, MI, USA. This date was given by Aubrey on his draft registration. Michigan Birth and Christenings 1775- 1995 says 29 April 1888 in Sodus, Berrien County, MI. He was born, according to conflicting information, on 1 January 1888 at Berrien County, MI, USA. This birth date was given by his nephew George.. He was the son of George E. Hotchkin and Louie May Kennedy. He married Bertha Hecox at NE, USA. It is likely that this marriage was 30 May 1911.. Aubrey Earl Hotchkin Sr. was Miller on 18 May 1911 at McCook, Red Willow County, NE, USA, He was sent by his father George to run a new mill in McCook that George had just purchased.¹ He registered for the World War I Draft on 5 June 1917 while living at Minden, Kearney County, NE, USA. The registration card gave additional information on him: "Gives age as 30, born 29 April 1887 in Michigan. His occupation is as a Miller and he works for Minden Milling Co. He is married with a wife and two children.". He appeared on the census of 1920 at Lincoln, Lancaster County, NE, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Aubrey E., 31, b MI, President of Milling Co; wife Bertha, 28, b NB; son Aubrey Jr., 7, b NE; dau Arlene R., 4 10/12, b NE; dau Georgia F., 2 6/12, b NE.. He resided at Kearney, Buffalo County, NE, USA, in 1920. He appeared on the census of 1930 at Scottsbluff, Scotts Bluff County, NE, USA. The census lists the family as: Aubrey E. Hotchkin, age 42, first married at age 24, born in MI, father born in NY, Mother in MI, Salesman for the Flour industry; Bertha L., age 38, first married at age 20, born in NE, father born in NY, mother in IL, son Aubrey Jr, age 16, born in NE, father born in MI, mother in NE; daughter Alene C. , age 14, born in NE..
     Aubrey Earl is accused of writing a $5.50 bad ckeck using an Alias.
Aubrey died on 1 January 1936 at Portland, Multnomah County, OR, USA, at age 48.

     George W. Hotchkin says that Aubrey Earl, his uncle, went out to South Dakota to homestead and George's father, William Smith Hotchkin followed. Meade Co. land records show that A. E. Hotchkin and wife Bertha L. were issued a land patent on 23 July 1912 for the SE 1/4, Sec. 5, T 7, R 11 (Bk 69, Pg 434). There is a sale recorded of this same property by A. E. Hotchkin and wife Bertha of Gering, Scotts Bluff Co., NB to C. J. Mueller of Sturgis, 4 April 1928. This sale was a sheriff's sale for a $377.62 debt.

     Audrey Eva Hotchkin is the daughter of William Mead Hotchkin Jr. and Edith Sadie Cross. She married Richard R. Curry at Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL, USA, on 12 June 1953. Alabama Marriage Collection 1800- 1969..

     Augustine is listed in NEHGH, Vol 85 and his marriage to Mary Aulls is listed in, 10,000 Facts of Western NY; and he is mentioned in the, Detroit Society for Genealogical Research Magazine," Quarterly. It says that he came to Washtenaw Co., MI prior to 1840; and the family lived in Lodi, Michigan at the 1845 Michigan Census.
     His death date is found in Washtenaw Co., MI records saying that he died of old age at age 86-0-29 which coincides with his known birth date. Records further say that he was retired, born in NY and that his parents were James Harvey and Rebecca both of NY and that he was a widower and a resident of Saline. He lived in Saline and York Twp. according to Family History Capers. His gravestone is found in the Oakwood Cemetery beside US12; in Section A-31, Lots A 7F. According to Family History Capers, Vol 8, #3, he was a Justice of the Peace in York and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in Lodi, MI. Records of the Presbyterian Church, Saline, MI show that he was admitted by Letter on 10 August 1839 as a transfer from Wheeler, NY. He was dismissed from the Saline church on 27 December 1857. It is possible that his minister father James Hervey was in Washtenaw Co. because records of the Presbyterian Church lists a Mr. Hotchkin as visitor or moderator on 5 August 1849.
     He is mentioned many times in tjhe History of Washtenaw County as one of the Michigan Pioneers.^3,4,5
