Emily Sophronia Hopkins was born on 13 May 1834 at Prattsburgh, Steuben County, NY, USA.¹ She was the daughter of Asa Hopkins and Amanda R. Loomis. She married Beriah D. Hotchkin at Barrington, Yates County, NY, USA, on 18 November 1855.¹ Emily Sophronia Hopkins appeared on the census of 1900 at Penn Yan, Yates County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Emma, age 65, b 5-1835 in NY; widow, no children, living alone.. She died on 18 January 1913 at Penn Yan, Yates County, NY, at age 78.

Her obituary from a local Prattsburg newspaper is saved in the files of the Prattsburg Historical Society, but undated; the obituary says that she had been paralyzed for about ten years due to a stroke and that she moved from Prattsburg to Penn Yan about 35 years earlier. At the 1900 census of Mills Town, Penn Yan, Yates Co., NY, she is living alone. The census gives her birth as 5-1835, age 65.

Hopkins, 61, born NY, farmer; Ellen, 40, born MA; Clara, 16, born NY; Catie Warren, 8, born WI; Edwin Warren; 6, born WI.. He appeared on the census of 1880 at Peabody, Marion County, KS, USA. The census lists the family as: Frederick Hopkins, 71, born NY, father born CT, mother born MA; wife Ellen R., 49, born MA, parents birth place not given; step son Edwin Warren, 15, born WI, fathers birth place not given, mother born MA; dau Clara N., 26, born NY, parents born NY; step dau Katie M. Warren, 18, born WI.. He died on 20 February 1884 at Peabody, Marion County, KS, at age 74.

He was a merchant in Peabody, KS, where he was Postmaster in 1880. The Compiler can not find them in the 1860 census.
