He married Pearl Velma Edwards, daughter of Clarence Marsillis Edwards and Gertrude Hattie Braaks, on 14 November 1940 at Jamestown, Stutsman County, ND, USA. Floyd Lewis Hanson died on 15 December 2007 at Minot, Ward County, ND, USA, at age 91. Floyd L. Hanson
Nov. 1, 1916-Dec. 15, 2007 Floyd Lewis Hanson, 91, Minot, and formerly of Jamestown, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, in a Velva nursing home.

Floyd was born Nov. 1, 1916, near Jud, to Peter and Mary (Dalager) Hanson. He was the oldest of seven children and was raised on the family farm. He attended Glenmore Township rural school prior to graduating from Jud High School in 1936. As a young adult he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Red Wing, Minn., area.

Floyd married Pearl V. Edwards Nov. 14, 1940, in Jamestown. They lived in Nortonville, where he worked as a truck driver. In 1944, he began his career with Montgomery Ward Department Store in Jamestown. The family moved to Minot in 1950 when he became manager of the department store's tire department in Minot. He was well known by area farmers to whom he sold hundreds of grain bins and tractor tires. He retired from Wards after 30 years and then went to work for Sears as a salesman. He retired in 1986. Pearl died on Dec. 6, 2003.

Floyd lived at Edgewood Vista for several months prior to residing in an adult foster care facility for three years. He had recently moved to the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Floyd was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot, where he was a very dedicated financial secretary for many years. He was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church and Vincent United Methodist Church, both Minot, and he was a member of the Elks Lodge and Eagles Aerie, both in Minot. Floyd was a master when it came to numbers and could add a column of figures faster than anyone could with an adding machine or calculator. He enjoyed playing cards, especially whist, and seemed to have the ability to know what was in everyone?s hand.

Floyd is survived by: his children, Carol (Larry) Schmidt and Randy Hanson, both of Minot, and Richard Hanson and Susan (Lin) Hotchkin, both of Dubuque, Iowa; grandchildren, James (Velvet) and Scott (Crystal) Schmidt, Nancy (Kelly) Froslie, Dave, Dawn, Lexi and Courtney Hanson; great-grandchildren, Darby and Zachary Schmidt, Taylor and Maxwell Froslie and Jack Hanson; sisters, Gladys Doris of International Falls, Minn., and Mary Lou Carlson of Fargo; brother, Louis Hanson of Jamestown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
