     Jim was always the favorite cousin of your Compiler as we were growing up together in Michigan and our wife’s and we often did things together after we were married. We have been separated by a lot of distance for many years but Cathy and I are trying to make up for that by frequent trips to Michigan. Jim and Ruth sang at our wedding and were married the week after Cathy and I were married. Jim was adopted by Marjorie and Howard and later by Galligan. Later in life he located his birth mother but never his father.
Jim's mother Marjorie was killed in a terrible home fire a few months after his marriage and Jim and his wife Ruth raised Jim's sister Aletha from the time of her mothers death. Attached as an Exhitib is Jim's account of the Battle of Leyte Gulf from his carrier.

MEADVILLE, Pa. — Helen L. Truran, age 79, of Meadville, Pa., died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at her home.

She was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Walter Gammell and Esta Cartwright. She married Richard C. Truran Jr. on Sept. 5, 1951.

She had worked at Saegertown Components and Krogers Grocery Store and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Meadville.

Helen was past president of the Elks 219 Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed card club, golfing and spending time with her grandchildren

Survivors include her husband, Richard C. Truran Jr. of Meadville; two daughters, Linda Miller of Meadville and Cynthia Thompson (Eric) of Conneaut Lake; two sons, Richard C. Truran III (Mary) of Meadville and Thomas W. Truran (Diane) of Lake City; son-in-law, Joseph Simonette of Meadville; grandchildren, Michael (Valerie) and Matthew (Michelle) Simonette, Hilary (David) Kahl, Jonathan and Brian Truran, Christy (Travis) Shamp, Jackie (Bill) Beers, Lisa Miller, Jesse Thompson and Bryan, Danielle and Jordan Morris; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Alison Simonette, Nick, Alex and Ashley Simonette, Parker Dean and Kaizen Morris; sister, Judy (Frank) Cross of Hartwell, Ga; brother, Robert (Sue) Gammell of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Simonette; daughter-in-law, Sheri Truran; and her parents.

Calling Hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., TODAY, July 15th, and from 10 a.m. until time of Service, Friday, at HATHEWAY-TEDESCO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, Pa.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 16th, at the Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery
